-Revenge Is The Purest Emotion-No one made a move as we stared at Connie and my mother. Their faces filled with horror, shock and fear. I wanted to call out to them, to tell them to run away, but my mouth couldn't function.
"W-What is this?! I'm calling the police!" my mother cried, while pulling her phone out of her bag, struggling to dial the number.
"No, you're not," Saoirse said. With a simple flick of her wrist, a dagger appeared from her hand and struck my mother's phone, embedding it onto the doorframe.
Like a magnet, Seth and Samtron looked up at Saoirse. Their sister, they follow her footsteps, they follow her every move.
My mother flinched and dropped to the floor, not able to process any words. But Connie did. Connie was always alert and always clear. And she always had something to say.
"Odette, what is this?!" Connie cried, the terror in her eyes so intense.
She came to visit me every evening to tell me how her day had been coming. I guess she found my mom. I didn't need her to tell me twice. I would've the second the words left her mouth, if I wasn't trapped here in the roots. Where were Suzanna and Sam? I thought they were keeping watch. Something was amiss here.
Saoirse and the others must've noticed their absence, but they didn't mention it. We were so distracted by shock that we didn't realize Samtron had moved behind my mum and Connie. He slammed the door and summoned roots to block the door. Connie and my mum scrambled forwards, but not too close to any of us.
"Who are you?" My mum asked.
Saoirse sighed.
"I wasn't planning on encountering with humans, but since it's come to this, I have no other way," Saoirse said to herself.
"W-What?"
"Come. We don't have time to lose," she said and walked away.
Seth and Samtron both nodded. They walked towards my mum and Connie, who struggled when they held them. Seth took a small pouch out of his pocket and poured a vibrant purple coloured dust on Samtron's palm. Samtron held it in front of Connie's face and blew it. As soon as Connie flinched, her eyes rolled up and her limbs failed her. She fell but Seth caught her, and slowly lowered her onto the floor.
"Stop!" I shouted as Samtron put his palm near my mum's face. I tossed and turn, thrashing just to get loose or free. "Please, don't!"
Seth gave me an apologetic look as Samtron did the same with my mum.
"Mum!" I screamed as she took a tiny gasp of air, and fell to the ground. I felt my tears slip from the corner of my eye.
"They're not dead," Samtron said softly while dusting his hands off on his pants. "It's a sedative. And its chemical free, we got them from the pollen of a flower."
I thrashed even more as Seth and Samtron walked over to help Saoirse pack. I screamed, and shouted, but nothing worked. And the look David gave me didn't help as well. It was the look that says 'Don't bother trying'. I was washed by another emotion I didn't think I was capable of feeling so strongly. Anger, but in a different stage.
