Nobody's P.O.V
"H-how old are you?" Dan asks Phil. Phil pushed up his glasses. "I'm 19." Phil answers. "What about you?" Phil asks Dan the same question. "S-seventeen." Dan smiles at Phil. "Sib-blings?" Dan says. "Yeah, only one though. Her name is Abigail and she's 15. She looks exactly like me, just inches shorter." Phil says with a smile forming on his face.
"D-don't have a-any." Dan says with his head down. He remembers his mother having a miscarriage when he was four years old. "L-lonely." Dan tells Phil not being able to look him in the eyes. Phil pouts, and hugs Dan. Phil likes to hug people when he sees them sad. Dan is surprised by Phil's action, but hugs back anyways. It feels good to have someone there for you. Besides, he kind of likes Phil's touch.
Phil let's go of Dan and smiles. "Are you okay, Dan?" Phil asks Dan in a soft tone. Dan just fell into a deep thought. Is he really okay? Well let's see what he has. Dan is selectively mute, his father has been abusing him since he was three years old, his mother passed, he get's bullied, nobody accepts him for who he is, and he suffers from insomnia.
"Umm, Dan..." Phil says with his eyebrows furrowed waiting for an answer. Dan couldn't take the pain anymore. He just wanted to scream out that he's not okay, and that he doesn't want to keep living anymore. Dan breaks out into sobs, crying onto Phil's shoulder. Phil doesn't know what to do. He's never been in a situation like this before. Is he supposed to say something. Instead, Phil ignores his thoughts, and holds Dan in his arms. He doesn't care if they only met a few days ago. Right now, all Phil needs to worry about is comforting his friend.
"Shh.. It's okay, I'm here." Phil tries comforting Dan rubbing small circles onto his back. 'N-no." Dan cries out. Phil frowned at the sound of Dan's voice. Phil could tell that Dan was just broken. He sounded so miserable, and sad. "D-dad hurt m-me, m-mum d-died, alone, b-bullied, n-no one c-cares." Dan sobs into the crook of Phil's neck. Phil felt so bad for Dan, that even he felt the sadness.
Phil lifted up Dan's chin and looked him in the eyes, "Never say that nobody cares, because I do. And why haven't you told anyone that your dad abuses you? We need to tell someone about that so we can get you the help you need. What the bullies say aren't even true. You are NOT a freak, you hear me?" Phil tells Dan in a stern voice so Dan will understand his point he's trying to make.
"D-don't tell!" Dan cries out, and sobs into Phil's shoulder. Dan's sleeve fell down without him noticing, and Phil gasped. "W-what?" Dan looked up at Phil.
"Nothing..." Phil pulled Dan's sleeve back down and held onto his wrist lightly making sure not to hurt him.
The cuts were so deep, and it looked so fresh. Phil didn't like the sight of that.
"I-im sorry I-im not p-perfect." Dan says into Phils neck. "Nobody's perfect, Dan. Even me. I may look like I'm the happiest person to exist, but really, I'm not."
Dan stopped crying, and looked up at Phil with a worried look.
"What's w-wrong, P-phil?" Dan asks the boy sitting across from him. "Well, my dad wants to take custody of me, but he's not the best dad either." Dan frowns, and waits patiently for Phil to continue his story. "He's an alcoholic, and he buys drugs off of guys in alleyways. He doesn't treat my sister with the care she needs, and it's just not right." Dan hugs Phil, and sighs.
"But this isn't about me right now. Im worried about you, and I want to help you get better, Dan." Dan didn't want to argue with him, so he nodded his head, and they both decide to change the subject to something that will lighten up their mood.
"Do you have any movies we can watch? It may make the both of us feel better." Phil asks Dan, not looking him in the eye. Dan nodded his head, and walked over to a shelf filled with movies. Dan picks up a few, and brought them over to his bed.
