NOBODY'S P.O.V

"How'd you find out?" Phil said, shaking to the thought of his mother knowing that Dan was gone. "Ben told me." His mother said, pointing at Ben.

Phil plastered a confused look on his face. "Ben, how do you know that Dan is gone?" He said looking down at the boy, not wanting to cry in front of him. "I-I didn't..." The boy said, eyebrows furrowed.

"Where's Dan?" Ben said in a worried tone, tugging on his sleeves. Phil looked at his mother, wanting an explanation. "Okay, I didn't know that he's gone. Ben told me about his dad hurting him." Phil felt a pang in his chest, and he nodded his head. He rushed over to the stairs, and felt a hand wrap around his wrist.

"Phil, what do you mean he's gone?" She said worried. Phil's blue eyes went dull, and his head hung low. "I swear, I walked to school with him today... and he was here." A tear slipped from his eye, and fell onto his shirt.

"Ben, go up to your room, okay?" Phil's mum said. The little boy nodded his head, and headed up the stairs into his room. When the door shut, she nodded her head letting Phil explain everything.

"Mum, I'm such a disappointment. Why do you still love me? I let Dan go away. This is all my fault!" Phil said sobbing into his hands. He fell to the floor, and sat on a stair. His eyes screamed to let out tears. His heart was in pain, and his head was spinning.

"Is he dead?" She asked kneeling down to the ground, rubbing circles onto Phil's back. He didn't exactly want to speak, nor did he have words.

Phil doesn't know if he's dead or not. All he knows is that he's disappeared, and nobody can find him. "I don't know." Phil croaked out.

"Well, did you tell the police?" His mother said in a soothing voice. Phil nodded his head, and continued to sob. "I'll go around in my car looking for him, stay here."

Phil looked up, and shook his head. He didn't want her going alone, he wanted to go with her. He wiped the tears off his face, and rushed up the stairs.

"Cmon Ben, we're gonna go find Dan." Phil said to the little boy. "Ohh, okay!" The voy said cheery. He threw on a pair of pants and a T-shirt.

Phil grabbed his shoes, and slipped them on. He walked over to Ben's closet, and grabbed a coat. "Here." Phil said handing him the coat. Ben put it on and smiled.

Phil picked him up, and walked down the stairs. "You're not going alone." Phil said angrily. "Okay, fine. Let's go quickly then." Phil plastered a small smile on his lips. His mother put on a coat, and walked out of the house. Phil followed with Ben in his arms. He shut the door behind him, locking it with his house key.

"Why'd you bring Ben?" She said with her arms crossed over her chest while tapping her foot on the cold ground. "Because I'm not leaving him in the house alone while we're out." She nodded her head, and opened up the backseat of the car.

She took Ben from Phil's arms, and put him in his car-seat. She closed the door, and got into the passenger seat. Phil got into the driver's seat, and put on his seat-belt. He reversed the car, and pulled out of the driveway.

Phil tried thinking of places Dan might be. They usually go to the park, or the ice cream parlor about 5 minutes away from the school. He was closest to the ice cream parlor, so he decided to go there first. He began to drive in the right direction.

To Phil, it must have felt like the longest 5 minutes of his life. The family got there, and all three entered the store. Phil greeted the employee and asked if they've seen Dan anywhere.

"The really quiet kid?" The employee says, scratching the back of his head. Phil nodded his head, and began to fidget around wanting an answer.

"No, I haven't. Last time I saw him he was with you a few days ago." He said going back to work. Phil nodded, and turned around.
