Chapter 2: Luke

        I am trying to get used to Kate, an Amity being in the Dauntless compund. She seems so out of place and confused about our customs. I can see her thinking of how she got here, as if she forgot her Amity history and is pondering about the truth. She is struggling in learning how to use weapons, I guess she has no choice and I can't change that.

Kate's POV:

        What the heck is this place?!? How do I use this thingy? I find myself asking myself all the time. I feel so awful when I touch what they call a "gun." Why? I am suppose to be Dauntless born but I feel so un-dauntless. I guess it's just getting started with training. I just need a little time to adjust and I guess I'll be fine. I sleep with all the children under 10 and meet many friends, Jen, Cassandra, and Anna. We're all dauntless-born.. DUH. We are beginning training with self-defense without weapons. We are fighting eachother and I peer at the list of opponents:

Round 1: Kate VS. Katherine

Round 2: Jack VS. Mary

Round 3: Jen VS. Joseph

Round 4: Jacob VS. Anna

Round 5: Cassandra VS. Samantha

Oh no.. Katherine is the top dog here, I am in deep, deep, deep trouble. The fights are this afternoon after our mentors/coaches teach us a brief intro on the basics.. I wasn't paying attention so...

Luke's POV:

        I hope Kate does well in the fight this afternoon. I walk around the compound thinking about how she'll fit in alright. She'll be fine, she's young I keep thinking to myself but inside, I am really doubting myself. I soon forget it when I see Ashley walking in my direction and run towards her. We briefly touch lips. "How are you?" she askes. I don't know what to say so I just reply,"Fine." She looks into my eyes with those bright blue eyes that can melt me from the inside and says,"You're lying," "Possibly," I reply. She just looks away and walks with me to our appartment like nothing happened.
