"I'm going to go to the rec room and get a cot, you find us a room." Opal told, following everyone else to the rec room.
Sadly, by the time the young woman got there everyone else had grabbed one and there were no more.
She sighed and ran a hand through her greasy hair.
Opal jumped in surprise as Lori came into the room.
"Opal! There's showers! With warm water!" she exclaimed, running back out into the hallway.
Opal sighed and looked if there was anymore cots hidden. Spoiler alert, there wasn't.
Daryl entered the rec room, his stare on Opal. "What's taken ye so long?"
"No more cots," Opal muttered, looking to the ground.
"Well, I'll be comfortable on the floor then," Daryl said, turning around and finishing the conversation by walking out of the room.
Opal scoffed. Why had she picked the stubborn man as her only friend? She had been questioning herself recently.
Nobody else wanted to get to know him, they just believed that he was an uneducated provider. Opal didn't quite pity Daryl for his reputation. If anything the situation angered her. Daryl definitely deserved more than what people gave him.
The lonely woman cleared her throat and decided to find the room she'd be sleeping in. She peeked into every door, fake mailing to whoever was in room, there was anyone.
Opal scoffed to herself when she peeked into Daryl and hers room. There sat Daryl, sitting on the bed and drinking from his Jack Daniels whiskey. "Really? Had to be the last room in the whole hall?"
Daryl shrugged.
"Are you going to shower?" Opal questioned.
The man shook his head, "maybe. Not yet."
Opal nodded, "you should. Use the water while you have it."
Daryl stayed silent.
Opal sighed, "well, I'm gonna shower real quick." SHe didn't care to listen to a reply from the man. SHe quickly slid off her muddy tennis shoes and everything, stepping into the warm shower.
Opal was very glad to see that the CDC had shampoo, conditioner and body wash.
First, she put the shampoo in her hair and scrubbed it till there was bubbles.
After washing that out, she put in conditioner and scrubbed the body was on her skin. She got all the dirt and grime off of her arms and legs. By the time she was rubbing, her skin was red from annoyance.
She quickly washed the conditioner out of her hair and turned off the warm water.
She dropped her towel around her body, covering her torso and thighs.
Opal sighed as she realized that she didn't have any clothes. "Daryl?" she asked, her body pressing against the wooden door that was separating her from Daryl.
"Yeah?"
"Could you go ask Lori to give me clothes? I don't' have any." Opal said, her fingers crossed.
She could hear a loud sigh from Daryl, "yeah. I'll be right back."
Opal didn't reply and sat down on the close toilet seat, waiting for Daryl to come back.
After a few quiet minutes of waiting, Daryl finally knocked on the bathroom door, "I got yer clothes."
Opal stood and cracked the door, her hand instantly coming to the clothes. SHe grabbed then and quickly changed into them.
THe clothes were very Lori like. The shirt was a dark brown with a low neckline.
The, she had some grey sleep pants.
Opal opened the door and saw Daryl in the same position as before, taking a sip from the bottle.
"You wanna have a taste of whiskey?" Daryl asked, locking eyes with the woman.
Opal shrugged, "sure, I'll try it."
Daryl smiled and handed Opal the glass bottle and water intently as she tonka tinys ip.
Opal's face scrunched up at the burning sensation in her throat.
"Opinions?" Daryl questioned.
"It's gross. But not as bad as the wine." Opal told, trying another taste.
Daryl's face showed an amused reaction.
"What's so funny?" Opal said.
"You just said that it was gross, yet you're taking another sip as we speak," Daryl said, chuckling lightly as he saw Opal instantly stop drinking.
"Shut up, I'm just trying it out."
Daryl ran a hand over his blushing face, or at least he felt like he was blushing. Yet, his face was covered by dirt to tell.
Daryl's face then turned to seriousness, "what was wrong earlier? LIke the elevator and stuff."
Opal's body stiffened. "Nothing. It's fine."
"No. Tell me. You can tell me," Daryl demanded.
Opal didn't appreciate Daryl trying to press into her business. "I don't want to tell you," she growled, shoving his drink into his chest and walking out of the room, her anger radiating off her.
SHe found herself lost as she wandered around the large building. Her anger had calmed a bit, but she was still upset that Daryl had to be so pushy.
Opal frowned at the floor as she walked.
"Who's there?"
Opal looked up, trying to see who was there. She was scared by the sudden voice. "It's me, Opal."
Suddenly, surprisingly, Edwin Jenner stood there, out from a room that she had just passed by. "You're the one who didn't want her blood taken earlier," he pointed out.
Opal nodded, "yeah. Sorry about that earlier. I'm terrified of getting shots and needles."
Jenner shrugged, "it's fine. I understand why. I'm scared of things too."
Opal nodded, sticking her hands into her pajama pants pockets.
"So, why're you down here?" he asked.
"My friend pissed me off and I needed to get away," Opal said, not meeting Edwin's eyes.
"You wanna sit in my office with me? I'm just testing all your guy's blood." Jenner offered.
Opal was surprised, she thought that the doctor wouldn't enjoy someone else's help. But Opal shrugged, "sure. If you want me to."
Opal followed Jenner into a room that was next to the room he was in before. "You need to wear gloves and a lab jacket."
Opal nodded. She smiled as Edwin handed her a jacket and goggles. Then, he handed her gloved.
"So," Jenner started, "where had you been before this?"
"Well, I'd been in the forest a lot. I'd only joined thier group a few days ago. But they had been on the outskirts of Atlanta. You?" Opal explained.
Edwin nodded, "i've been here since it all started. There was a handful of people that stayed, my wife included, yet as time when on they started to lost hope, so many people chose suicide. Then, my wife got bit. Now, I'm the only one left."
Opal sat in shock, she'd barely even known Edwin for a few hours and he just explained a lot to her. He probably just wanted to vent.
"I'm sorry. We barely even know each other." he apologised.
Opal shook her head, "no, no. It's completely fine."
Jenner nodded and the room was quiet, the only thing that was heard was viles clanking against each other.
