"Hurry up Rehanah!" Breeze's voice could be heard by everyone. Just his voice could make everyone smile. Rehanah followed behind, having some trouble keeping up with his more athletic friend. Rehanah was a small kid and skinny too. While Breeze was taller and had a bit of muscle. It was mostly because Breeze is the chiefs eldest son and was forced to start warrior training early. Rehanah was the same age as Breeze. But training doesn't officially start until you turn the age of fifth teen. At the age of thirteen, Breeze was already an expert at shooting arrows and using a spear. His hand to hand combat skills needed some work, but other than that Breeze was nearly ready to become a true warrior. Today him and Rehanah would be hunting alone. It sounds like a simple, easy task. But even hunting could be dangerous. Especially for two young kids. But everyone knew Breeze is strong. He could do anything.
Breeze steadied his bow, drawing back the string. Rehanah knelt closely next to him, looking out across the field at the wild buffalo. It grazed slowly, eating some of the tall grass.
"Do you really have to shoot it?" Rehanah whispered. Breeze aimed at the beast.
"Yes I do." With that, Breeze Let go of the arrow. It hit directly into the buffalo's side. "Yes!" Breeze grinned, running over to the furry body. It struggled for awhile before dropping dead. Rehanah jumped out of the bushes once Breeze gave the signal that it was okay. Rehanah never really liked killing an animal. Not even another human. Some people thought he was a birth father because of how sensitive and sweet he was. But Chief Obion, Rin And even his own parents said he wasn't. He had a beautiful face and looked so much like a female with his light hair down and his big green eyes.
"Thanks for coming along with me." Breeze smiled at Rehanah. Behind him, he pulled the sled of buffalo meat and hide.
"Oh, it's no problem." Rehanah smiled back, his face red.
"Should we stop? It looks like you need a break."
"Yeah, that'll be good." Rehanah let go of the sled and plopped down on the ground. Breeze did the same, grabbing his jug and taking a sip of water. He handed it over to Rehanah who chugged down the whole thing. Breeze laughed at his friend. Rehanah wiped his mouth, taking a deep breath. "That's way better." He sighed, resting his head on Breeze's shoulder. "I'm tired, Breeze." He cuddled up closer. Breeze blushed slightly, hesitating to lay his own head a top of Rehanah's.
"We can rest for a bit." He felt Rehanah move in closer to his side.
"You know, Breeze. People think I'm actually a birth father."
"I know. They've been saying that since the day you were born." Rehanah sighed. One arm now around Breeze.
"Maybe I actually am." Breeze blushed more at the thought of Rehanah being a birth father. People were always saying that they would be a cute couple and that they're children would be adorable and strong.
"Why do you think that? You heard what Rin said."
"I know, but look at me. I look too beautiful and I'm a failure as a warrior to the tribe. I can't even cut wood properly. How is a man supposed to protect his family if he can't even do the simple task of cutting wood?" Rehanah looked down at his arm around Breeze's abdomen. "I really wish I was a birth father, so I could mate with you." Breeze nearly choked on his own saliva. He sat up, holding Rehanah by the shoulders.
"We could always try!" His eyes were wide. Rehanah blushed darkly. His own green eyes widening. By the age of thirteen you could get married and mate, but still wasn't really normal. Everyone mostly waited till fifth teen or sixteen. Others waiting even longer. For two young teenagers like Rehanah and Breeze they wouldn't be able to have an actual marriage till they were a bit older. "I know we're still young, but I-I really like you, Rehanah. Like I love you. And maybe if we mate then we could finally see if you're really a birth father." Rehanah smiled, hugging him tightly.
"Alright." He looked up into Breeze's beautiful golden eyes. "Let's start a family together!"
