Hours passed and it was already dawn. When Dazai came out of his room, there was no sign of (y/n). She had gotten up earlier than usual and had already left for work, clearly wanting to avoid the brunette as much as possible.

Though just yesterday Dazai had laughed it off and said that love was just a joke, he couldn't help but feel his spirits plummeting downwards every time he thought about it.

"So stupid," His eyelids droop as he clenched his fist. "I'm so stupid. I lost her."

He slammed the door of his apartment behind him and left the Agency's dorm with especially heavy footsteps. Hands in his pocket, his long brown locks fell over his eyes. Each step he took was painful, filled with remorse and regret.

His footfalls faltered and stopped in the middle of a deserted street, a halfway point between the Agency and the dorm as he lifted his gaze to look at the cerulean blue sky.

Involuntarily, he broke into a grin, followed by a dark chuckle that escaped from his lips. Fingers trailing up the bridge of his nose to his clouded eyes, he finally burst out into a dry laugh.

"Humans sure are sinfully stupid."

Meanwhile (y/n) sat in the office downing a bottle of sake she bought on the way to the Agency. There were no specific things she had to do at the moment. She had long completed the reports that Kunikida had assigned her with.

The office was almost empty, with Atsushi having errands to run with Kyouka, and Kunikida furiously typing on his keyboard, rambling on about how he had to finish everything on time as written in his 'Ideals' book.

Dr Yosano sauntered into the room at the same time (y/n) had finished the bottle of sake. Slightly drunk and dizzy, she eyed the doctor with half-lidded eyes.

Dr Yosano arched her eyebrows as she took in the slumped posture of the person in front of her. Just yesterday she was laughing away with her and Gin during their shopping trip.

"What's wrong?" Dr Yosano came down to sit beside her.

"Nothing," (Y/n) mumbled quite inaudibly. "Nothing's wrong. I'm just tired."

Something's definitely wrong. (Y/n) was acting weird. She usually wouldn't consume alcohol except during special occasions. Of course, Dr Yosano took notice of this change.

Dr Yosano narrowed her eyes at her words and immediately stood up. Her heels landed with a loud thump on the tiled floor. She wasn't going to believe the lame excuse.

Directing her sharp gaze at (y/n), she tugged her limp hand and said firmly, "No. You're going to spill everything that happened, right from the start."

Dazai arrived after Dr Yosano had talked to (y/n). Her ears perked up when she heard his voice. However, it wasn't the bubbly tone she knew all too well — it sounded monotonous, dead even.

She shot Dr Yosano a nervous glance. She wasn't ready to face him yet. The doctor only replied with a thumbs up and (y/n) chewed on her bottom lip in worry.

She knew she could trust Dr Yosano. She had assured her that she would talk to the male and that there is nothing to fret over about.

As long as she was able to do her part in Dr Yosano's plan, everything would be — hopefully — alright.

"Everyone's being weird today," The brunette muttered under his breath when he opened the door to his apartment. It was empty — as he had expected. No use getting his hopes up now.
