Chapter 8 The Picnic<3

     I helped Jade off the bus  It was two p.m. and we were back at school. We drove home in silence, only because we were exhausted. I dropped her off at her house, she jumped out of my truck.

    " I'll see you at five!" she said. " By the way, I'll meet you there because I'm bringing my horse!"

    " Ok Jade, see you then!" I called out to her as I drove off towards home.

    I knew I wouldn't have much time to get ready because it was already almost three, and I had to unpack and fix food for Jade and me, and im sure mom will be wanting to know how the field trip was.

   I walked into my house whistling with my bag over my shoulder.

  " Hey honey, come and tell me all about your field trip, I thought me and you would go out and eat tonight if you want and you can even explain it then."

  " Thanks mom." I said, " I have plans for tonight though, Jade and me are going on a picnic at five and I have to go get ready."

  " Drew, listen your only asked to take her to school. You don't have to take her places too."

   " I know mom....I want to though."

   " Ok, Drew but look. I don't want you hurting that girl, I can tell she is quite found of you and she probably doesn't understand the meanings of a relationship."

  " WHAT THE HECK MOM?"

  " calm down...."

  "  MOM, WE AREN'T EVEN A COUPLE OK?"

  " How much you wanna bet that changes before the end of the night?" Mom said in a mocking tone.

 " Whatever.."

 " I thought you were going to tell me about the trip?"

 " Not now. I have to go get ready, I will tomorrow. There isn't much to tell anyway." I said with a stern look on my face.

 " What did something happen honey?

 " No mom..."

   I went up in my room and quickly unpacked my bag, throwing everything in the dirty clothes. Afterwards I opened up my closet to see what I would wear.

  I went through everything, trying things on more than once. Soon I had my whole closet on my bed I really wanted to impress this girl. I finally decided on a long sleeved white shirt with grey stripes, and my best pair of Hollister blue jeans. Then I sprayed extra of my cologne Jade liked so much.

 I went down stairs, it was fifteen minutes till five. I had to get the food ready. I opened the refrigerator finding leftover potatoe salad. I got that out of the fridge and put it in the basket. Then I got bread and made two peanut butter and banana sandwiches and put them in it in there too.

 What for desert though? I thought. I finally decided to just steal some of the brownies my mom made for my grandmothers birthday the tomorrow.  Oh well she had five more left.

 after I put the cokes in the basket, I didn't even bother to say goodbye to mom, after what she said just a while ago.

 I walked nervously to my truck, sitting the picnic basket in the passenger seat. I didn't have a far drive. Just across the street down a dirt road to this huge field. It was really pretty, the prefect spot for a picnic.
