         The next day, after the funeral, I woke up pretty late. I had to hurry up and get ready for school, so I could go pick up Jade.

          I pulled in her driveway, and of course she was already sitting out on her porch waiting for me. I saw her face light up instantly, which made me smile.

         " Hey babe!" I said as she got in my truck.

         " Hello there!"

         " How are you this morning?"

         " Just peachy!"

         " Like always." I smiled. " Lance called me last night when I got home, and asked if we wanted to double tonight. I told him that was fine."

        " Double what?" Jade asked confusingly.

        " Date! ha-ha."

        " Ohhh ok, cool!"

        When we got to school, we parked by Lance's Mercedes. He got out with a troubled expression on his face

        " Hey man, whats wrong?" 

         " I just went by Scarlett's house to pick her up, and nobody was there. The cars were gone and everything."

         " Are you serious?"

         " Yes, and I'm worried!"

         " I know dude, that's weird for them to suddenly just disappear. I'll let you know if she shows up in homeroom."

          " Alright, thanks!"

          " No problem!"

       I dropped Jade off at the CDC room, and went to my own homeroom. Everyone was in there, except for Scarlett.

       "Good morning class! I'll go ahead and take roll, then you guys can have free time."

       I sat listening, to see if she said anything.

      " Well looks like everyone is here but Scarlett."

     I was sitting hoping she was say why Scarlett wasn't here, but she didn't so I just asked. I figured  I would get told it was none of my business but I had to try.

   " Excuse me."

  " Yes?"

  " Why isn't Scarlett here?"
