There was a buzzing, but I ignored it. All I wanted to do right now was lie here in Damien's arms, let him hold me and kiss me, and stay in this perfect moment. I didn't want any wordly things distracting me from this perfect heaven.
It buzzed again. I sighed and looked up at Damien. Then I rolled over and looked at my phone on the dresser beside my bed. It read: Incoming Call From: Private Number.
I hit the reject button and rolled back over to Damien. I nuzzled my face in his arm and wrapped my arms around him. The phone started buzzing again. I sighed and rolled back over to the phone. Once again, I hit the reject button, and once again, I rolled back to Damien's side. The phone buzzed again, but only once this time. I looked up at Damien with apoligetic eyes and grabbed the phone. It said: One New Voice Mail. I flipped the phone open, dialed my voice mail, and held it up to my ear. "You have one new message," said the programmed woman's voice. The message began playing. At first it was just heavy breathing, but then I could hear someone whispering. The whispers were so breathy and quiet that I couldn't understand them. The person was mumbling, and the words didn't even really sound like words. I must have had an awful look on my face, because Damien touched it with his cold hand. "What's wrong?" he asked in a concerned voice. Just then, the message cut off, and the programmed voice said," To hear this message again, press 5. To delete this message, press 7." I smashed the 5 and put it on speakerphone so Damien could hear also. We listened to the message again, and then a third time. Damien grabbed the phone from my hand and flipped it closed.
"Is this someone's idea of a joke?" he practically yelled. "Because I don't find it very amusing." He looked at the Hello Kitty clock on my wall. "Damn," he said. "I have to go, Asher. I'm late for this...I have to go meet that old friend I was telling you about. We are going to have dinner tonight. I'm sorry that I didn't tell you sooner. I forgot." Damien got out from under the sheets and put his pants back on. He neglected to put his shirt back on, though. With his shirt in one hand, he ran over to me and gave me a kiss. "I love you, Asher. Goodbye, love." He walked out of the room and out of the house.
I sighed. I decided to take a shower to pass the time. The steamy water felt good when it hit my body. I sat down in the tub and let myself relax, just then, I remembered that I had promised Mitch I would text him sometime. I looked over to the laundry hamper in my bathroom where my jeans were. I got out of the bathtub just long enough to retrieve the piece of paper with his number on it, then I plopped back down in the tub. I grabbed my phone from beside the tub and texted the number. I texted," Hey, mitch, if it's you. It's Asher."
Before a minute had passed, he texted back. "Asher? As in, the one from the mall?" I texted him back just as fast as he had texted me. "Yeah, that's me. ^-^ How have you been?"
The rest of the conversation went like this.
MITCH: EH, OKAY I GUESS. BUSY, BORING, IF THAT TELLS YOU ANYTHING.
ME: xD YEAH, THAT'S HOW MY LIFE FEELS RIGHT NOW. I HAD A REALLY GOOD TIME AT THE MALL THOUGH AND I JUST WANTED TO THANK YOU AGAIN FOR BEING SO NICE TO ME. NOT MANY PEOPLE ARE.
MITCH: DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT. I LIKE YOU, GRACEN. A LOT. MAYBE WE COULD DO IT AGAIN SOMETIME?
ME: SURE THING. I'D LOVE TO. I JUST DON'T KNOW WHEN WOULD BE A GOOD TIME.
MITCH: YOU LET ME WORRY ABOUT THAT, BABES. ;)
ME: ^-^ THANKS AGAIN MITCH.
MITCH: SO, UH, IS THAT THE ONLY REASON YOU TEXTED ME? TO THANK ME? ...AGAIN?
ME: xD NO, NOT REALLY. REALLY, I JUST WANTED TO TALK TO YOU AGAIN.
MITCH: :3 OOOH. *FEELS HIMSELF BLUSH*
