When I awoke, I found myself in my bedroom. I looked around, but no one was there. How in hell did I get here?I asked myself, even though I knew I didn't know the answer.
The clothes that I had been wearing yesterday when Gregory had bloodied me up weren't on my body. Instead, they were replaced by new, clean clothes that still smelled of detergent. I got out of bed and walked over to my closet. If there was someone still in here, they might be in the closet. It was only commone sense, so I pulled back the doors. Nothing but my clothes was in there. I did notice one more strange thing, though. My clothes from yesterday were washed, neatly folded, and sitting in the floor of my closet.
A shiver pierced my spine and I instantly froze. "Hello?" I called aloud. The room was silent.
"If anyone is there, I don't want to hurt you. I just want to thank whoever saved me." Still, no one or nothing came forward to speak. I let out my breath and relaxed a little. Whoever was here was definitely gone now.
My clock began to beep, and the sudden noise made my heart skip a beat. I must have jumped two feet into the air.
I looked over at the pineapple shaped Hello Kitty clock. "Seven forty-five! Holy shit!" I yelled and ran into my bathroom to get ready for school.
It was bright outside today. Roar balanced on the fence posts of people's yards while I walked on the sidewalk beside her. She was adorable, as much as a Hello Kitty plushie, and I loved her. She was my best friend, my only friend.
As she skipped from one fence post to the next, I couldn't stop thinking of who might have been in my house. I knew that my mom wouldn't have taken me home and cleaned me up (she might have taken me home, but she would have only taken me as far as the living room and left me bloody there).
"Roar, you know how I told you about my dreams and then Damien showing up?" Without falling, which was quite impressive, Roar began walking backwards on the posts. "Yep," she said and looked down at me. "Do you still think that there was a reason for that?" I shook me head. "No, I dropped that. I'm pretty sure that that was just a coincidence. But something else has happened." I stopped talking then, my mind going back to yesterday with Gregory.
Roar stopped walking and looked down at me. "Ash, what's wrong?" she asked with concern in her voice.
"I...nothing...well, actually...I" Roar hopped off of the fence and shook me by the arms. "Spit it out!" she yelled.
I sighed. I didn't want to talk about what happened yesterday, but I knew I could trust Roar.
"Okay, her goes," I said. I explained the entire story to her on the way to school. Throughout the entire thing, she only put in some "mhm's" and "I see's", just as she always did.
The ruffles in her pink tutu bounced as she and I walked up the steps to the school. When we got to the top, she stopped and faced me. "That sounds...I'M GOING TO BEAT THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF THIS GREGORY GUY! HE'S GOING TO WISH THAT HE WAS IN HELL BY THE TIME I GET FINISHED WITH HIM! FIRST, I'M GOING TO..." "Roar, calm down!" I said and cupped her face with both of my hands.
"God, I didn't realize you could be so...fiesty," I said.
Her red face slowly returned back to its original color, and she breathed in and out deeply. "I;m sorry Asher," she said. "But if I see him, I can't promise that I can restrain myself."
I laughed, and we walked inside. After we parted ways, I walked to my locker to get my book again. The first thing that I noticed was that Gregory wasn't here. Maybe he felt bad for the way he had treated me, or maybe him and Kristian were together. I shuddered at the idea.
