Dylans POV

The girls went to the spa this morning for Hollands birthday and I myself was planning something for her when they came back. But before that; me and the boys decided to go snowboarding on the mountain.

Standing on top of the mountain breathing in the fresh cold winter air, the sun blinding our eyes without our goggles and the view right in front of us, man... sometimes you just have to take it all in. It's not often you have a views like this.

Don't get me wrong, LA is beautiful, but it's nothing like this

Don't get me wrong, LA is beautiful, but it's nothing like this.

I've only been snowboarding 3 other times in my life, so I wasn't really good at it.

Well, none of us are. I guess winter isn't really our thing, we're very used to the sun and the beach.

After a ride in the slopes I decided to head to the bar and wait for the others. I quickly send Tyler a text and order myself a beer.

The bar is outside and made of ice and snow. I go to sit by the far end of the bar where you can see the view of the mountains.

The sun peaking through the mountains and the tops covered in snow. It was equally beautiful down here as it was from the top.

I take a deep breath in and can feel the cold air spike my throat as I do so. I watch my breath turning to clouds out of my mouth.

Compared to the feeling of getting suffocated by flames and smoke, I wondered how it would feel like freezing to death.

I know this is a weird thing to think about, but being som close to dying... I wonder.

I do believe life is fragile and sometimes we take it for granted.. and do stupid things.

Like.. some people say I was stupid to walk in the flames, people who doesn't know Shelley.

But who would I be if I didn't go after her? What makes my life so much more valuable .

Holland thinks I was stupid AND heroic. Me? I just think I did what I had to.

Others close to Shelley say I'm a hero. I hate that word.

I was so sure we both were dying that night. We were lucky, but... she lost her memory and I keep thinking, what if I got her out faster.. would she remember then?

"There you are!" Tyler shouts and I jump, almost lost in my own thoughts.

"Hey!" I smile as I turn and see him coming towards me with the rest of the gang behind him. They all have a beer in their hand.

"Dude, the slopes are awesome. Why haven't I tried this before?" Sprayberry says with a big grin on his face and everyone gathers around the table.

"Do you think the girls are having a great time?" Darren asks and takes a sip of his beer.

"Of course!" I answer. "They're at the spa, how could they not." I continue.
