Chapter 18: Mon Amour

Shadé

Stupid, fucking, dumbass Darrell! He pissed me off so fucking much I just can't! Fuck! I'm so damn mad I can't think about his ass without wanting to slap the shit out of him! How could he leave me here!? It's seven forty, dammit!

I assumed that after Rodney picked up Elliot at seven, Darrell would come and get us as well, so I packed all of our things. However, after twenty minutes of waiting on his black ass, Caine was whining about being tired.

"Now you're all squeaky clean, just like your brother," I heard Vincent say in a voice that sounded weirdly southern. Valencia giggled, most likely from his new accent.

I turned to look at him, watching him as he held Valencia in a towel. He'd just taken the twins a bath, which I was actually proud of. I didn't expect him to know how to bathe children, considering that he's a prince and such.

He insisted that he take them their baths because he didn't want me to overwork myself. I mean, I had no choice but to make dinner, since he can't cook to save his life. But I find it very helpful that he opted to do something instead of sitting there and watching me do all the work.

I sighed in agitation that Darrell was now...forty-one minutes late.

"Mama," Caine whined as he lied his head down on my lap. He only had on his Pampers and his curly hair was still very wet. For whatever reason, he hates wearing shirts at night. Vincent just so happened to learn that the hard way when he was getting him dressed.

"Are you tired, baby," I asked him as I picked him up beneath his arms. He wrapped his legs around my waist and his arms around my neck as he buried his head into my shoulder.

"I think Valencia's tired, too," I heard Vincent comment from the sofa in front of me. He was currently putting Valencia on her yellow shirt that said 'Daddy's Little Daisy. He held her up by supporting beneath her arms to see if she'd stand.

An irritated infant growl escaped her throat as he did this. "She's acting too lazy to stand," he said, slightly chuckling.

"Yeah, and I think you're annoying her, too," I commented, seeing the annoyed, stoic look on her face.

"Daddy's sorry, Val," he laughed as he finally held her to his chest, kissing her on her cheek.

"Can they sleep in your room until Darrell comes," I asked him, lightly bouncing Caine in my arms.

"You should never ask me if my children can lay their heads somewhere in my place. My answer will always be 'yes'," he told me, creasing his brows and forehead.

I nodded, turning around to take Caine into Vincent's bedroom. I lied him down on his back, in the center of the bed while Vincent gently placed Valencia beside Caine.

Vincent surrounded them with a thick blanket on either side of them, courteously of room service.

"Are you sleeping in here with them," he asked.

"No, I'm not staying here. If that fucker doesn't get here by eight thirty, I'm leaving," I replied as he closed the bedroom door.

"So you don't want to stay with me," he questioned as I sat on one of the sofa.
