Chapter 22

"Dad?" I say with a confused face. 

"Hi sweetie," he says trying to hug me. 

I move back. 

"Don't touch me! Why are you here, huh?! You left 12 years ago with not even a care in the world! You didn't even ask how we were or come to visit us! After all this time I can't believe you come and see us now! NOW WHAT DO YOU WANT!" I say pissed at my dad. 

I feel someone put their hand on my shoulder. I look behind me and I see my mom, Austin, and Joshua. 

"Can I explain to you guys inside?" he asks. 

"Whatever," I say turning around to go to the kitchen letting the door go. 

I sit next to Joshua, my mom on the right side of the table, Austin on the left side of the table, and my dad in front imprint of me. 

"So how are you doing Joshua?" 

"I'm alright Mr. R" he says. 

"It's OK if you call me Robert" my dad says. 

Joshua just nods his head. 

"Now explain why you are here or you leave right now," my brother says getting angrier by the minute. 

"Well you see, after I left you guys I moved to New York because I got a job offer. While I was over there I met someone and got married. Seven years later she got very ill and died. I lost everything. So then the only place I could think of coming was here. So here I am now," he explained. 

"So you think you can just barge into our life all of a sudden? Is that what you think?" My mom says. 

"I know I'm sorry. I also should have called before." 

"Yeah you should have" Austin says. 

"So why are you here, huh?" I say getting impatient. 

"I was just seeing if I could stay here for a month till I get back on my feet" he said. 

I scoff.

"Go to hell," I say rolling my eyes. 

"I'm sorry about everything that has happened to you these past few years but you can't stay here, I'm sorry" my mom said. 

"Ok, I understand. But can I at least stay here for tonight and I'll leave tomorrow, I promise," he asks. 

We all look at each other and make a silent agreement. 

"Just for tonight, you can stay in the guest room," my mom says. 

"Ok, thank you," he says getting up. 

"I'll go put my stuff there then," he said. 

He goes to get his stuff and heads to the guest room. 

"I'm so sorry about this, I never thought I would see him again," my mom says. 

"It's ok mom" I say. 

"I'm going to bed, goodnight" Austin says, hugging me then my mom and patting Joshua on the back. 

"Night," I say. 

"I love you kids, I'm going to bed," she says hugging me and Joshua. 

"Goodnight," we both say. 

Now I'm just left with Joshua. 

"I'm sorry about this whole family drama," I say. 

"Hey it's ok," he says hugging me and placing a kiss on the top of my head. 

I go to the fridge and take out the milk. 

"Want a hot chocolate?" I ask. 

"Sure," Joshua says. 

I get out three packs of hot chocolate. Joshua gets two coffee cups. 

"Thanks." I put the milk in and out one at a time in the microwave. I then put the chocolate powder and mix it. 

"Here you go," I say handing Joshua his cup. 

"Thanks," he says pecking my lips. I smile back at him. 

"Can you meet me upstairs I have to get something really fast," I say. 

"Ok," he says pecking my cheek. 

As soon as I hear my bedroom door close I make an extra cup of hot chocolate cups and head to the guest room. I guess I don't really hate my dad that much, it's just that he left and was never seen or heard of till now. I guess I was just pissed because I haven't seen him in twelve years till now. I knock on the door frame since the door was open. He turns around and as soon as he sees me he smiles. 

"I made you hot chocolate with the little marshmallows just how you like it," I say handing him the cup.

"Thank you baby girl" he says getting the cup. 

"I'm sorry for getting mad at you, it's just I haven't seen or heard from you in twelve years." 

"It's ok, I understand. I'm sorry for just showing up unannounced," he says taking a sip of his hot chocolate. 

"That's ok daddy" I say hugging him. 

"I've missed you" he says kissing my head. 

"I've missed you too." 

"We should go get brunch tomorrow if you don't mind," he suggests. 

"I would like that," I say smiling at him. 

"Ok then be ready at around one," he says. 

"Ok, where are we gonna go?" 

"It's a surprise, I'll tell your mom and brother tomorrow about it," he says. 

"Ok, can Joshua come?" 

"Sure." 

"I love you dad." 

"I love you to sweetheart." 

"Goodnight." 

"Night." 

I go upstairs and see Joshua laying down on my bed only in his boxers on his phone. 

"Hey, you ok?" he says putting his phone down. 

"Yeah," I say putting my cup on my desk. 

I change into some sweats and a hoodie. 

"My dad wants to go get brunch tomorrow and said you could come. He said to be ready by one," I tell him getting under the blankets. 

"Ok, I'll go" he says. 

"I love you" he says. 

"I love you to" I say kissing him. 

I cuddle next to him and he wraps his arms around me. 

"Goodnight," I say. 

"Night" he says kissing my head.
