To The Children

To the children whose father broke their heart before anyone else,

To the children who lost sleep because their parents were fighting,

To the children that watched their father drink his life away,

To the children who don't know how to treat others well because of the way they've been treated at home,

To the children who run away at loud noises because it reminds them of their home being torn apart,

To the children that have witnessed their mother cry because of the awful things their father called her,

To the children who watched helplessly as their father hit and spit on their mother,

To the children who have their physical and mental health invalidated because their father didn't care about them like he did his own issues,

To the children who get screamed at for every little flaw,

To the children who get knocked back down when they did something they were proud of,

To the children that feel as though they have to hide their feelings because it may show weakness and cowardice,

To the children that were lied to about what was going on,

To the children that feel worthless because they never felt they did anything satisfactory,

You are not alone. I've been there. The pain will remain within me for the remainder of time I walk this planet. I have people here who care about me and I can assure that you do, even if you don't think it. Stay strong.

You are the children who can make a change.

You are the children who can help others in need.

You are the children who will put an end to this unnecessary pain.
