Sky's POV
"No. I won't have time plus I don't even want to go" James complained at my harmless question asking him to go to the beach with me.
He says he's never been and doesn't want too. He'll miss out on the breath-taking view it has to offer. The way the sun seems to perfectly reflect off the majestic waves. Even the sound can pull you through the toughest times and make you feel so pure and free. For that I feel sorry for him.
"Fine" I gave up. "I ordered pizza. It should be here in 15 minutes" he noted as he walked to the bathroom to shower.
I settled on the navy blue couch that went nicely with the tan curtains draped over the enormous window, and flipped on an old episode of Friends.
It's my chance to watch it now because James refuses it.
He's so different from Harry.
All he does is work and when he isn't he's seeing me. But Harry never worked. He had saved enough money to provide for us so he was always by my side. He worried so much about me considering the way we met. He saved me in every way I can be saved and for that I'm am grateful, because I'm happy now. Right?
"Pizza" a man yelled through the hotel door. I tried to hurry but stumbled on the way. The rude delivery boy continued knocking and yelling. James came busting through the bathroom door, no shirt, only his gym shorts. "For damn sake do you have any courtesy?" James barked at the teenage boy.
"I'm sorry sir, I-"
"No you're not. Don't ever do that shit again!"
The boys face turned red before he dropped the pizza and ran away. I only stood, mouth wide open, trying to process what happened.
"JAMES!" I scolded. James turned around with an angry expression which I quickly faded with my stare. "I'm calling that company tomorrow and complaining" he rambled.
"No you aren't" I argued back "that poor boy was only doing his job. Maybe something happened and he was in a hurry" I ranted.
James stood without a word said. I jerked the pizza box away from him and took it to the tiny kitchen. It splattered in the box a little but that wouldn't stop me.
Once it was made clear there were no plates, I grabbed the box and took it all.
A guilty James shuffled into the living room, interrupting one of Joey's idiotic comments on the TV. My eyes stayed glued to the TV. "I'm sorry"
"Ok"
"You aren't going to forgive me?" he panicked. "I said 'ok'"
"Oh" he stated, defeated almost. "Can I have some p-"
"Here" I handed him the box and grabbed the keys to the rental car. James didn't say a word. He knew he was already beat.
Why would James say those awful things? I've never heard him say such hateful words especially towards something so innocent. It was just pizza. I felt so bad for the young boy who seemed truly scared of the screaming man. I probably would've too so who am I to point fingers at. It infuriates me that James did that. As I have every intention of fixing his mess.
The city provided many things to do while I drove around but my focus went to a little pizza shop. I parked and went inside. "Hi how may I-...oh" the teenage boys gave dropped. "Here" I handed him the amount owed for the pizza. "Keep the change" I encouraged before leaving the speechless boy in the dust.
Neon lights flashed left and right, each one offering a family activity or source of entertainment. Some stores should be locked down for exposure while others innocently displayed floating water toys.
A dim sign caught my eye and I parked in front of the tiny shop labeled "Books".
Boring I know. They're my escape though. After Harry hit me with the realization that movies only feed us full of crap, so I turned to books. Where I could use my own imagination.
A elderly woman greeted me with a smile as I entered the shop. "You're new dear. What's you're name?"
"Sky"
Harry's POV
I scanned over the endless supply of books covering the shelves of the run down bookstore. A copy of The Great Gatsby hollered my name. I placed to book in my arms and rechecked the shelves again.
The chime of the familiar door meant someone else had come in to the desolate book store.
Gladys greeted the customer with her friendly hello. But she threw something else in there as she didn't recognize the customer. "Sky" she answered as her name...
The book in my hand fell.
But I quickly retrieved it, realizing it was most likely the woman That called the other day, whose house I have to visit tomorrow.
Why would she be here?
My hopes always fail me so I might as well set them free because they're useless to me.
