Harrys POV
A reoccurring, soft tapping sound patted against the roof of the apartment. Something about the consistent rhythm of the rain drops tapping against the side of the windows and roof.
"Harry?" Sky whispered into my ear. "Yes love?"
"What are you doing up so early?"
"The thunderstorm. I couldn't resist listening to the rain and watching the lighting illuminate the windows followed by the crack of thunder"
She laughed sleepily and scooted closer to me. Her hand rested on my chest, "Sky... your hands are ice cold" I grabbed them in mine and pulled them to my heart. "Thank you" she smiled although her eyes remained shut. We laid in silence while the subtle sound of rain echoed through our small apartment. "Harry!" Sky's eyes shot open "look outside!"
The sky had abruptly turned from its original shade of pure blue to a gray tinted green. The wind had stopped along with the heavy rain. "Come with me" I jumped up and pulled Sly behind me. She quickly turned on the tv only to blind both of us with the vibrant colors of warning labels. Our small town was noticeably highlighted and labeled 'TORNADO WARNING'. "Harry!" Sky screamed as the sirens outside informed us to immediately seek cover.
The only problem is we don't have anywhere to take cover.
The news man informed the viewers to take shelter in a basement, a room without windows or a bathtub. "Sky we need to go!" I yelled, trying to contain my panic to keep her calm. Her eyes spilled out tears as she started breathing heavily. As soon as the front door was barely cracked open a force ripped the door from my grip and slammed it open.
Outside stood the a spinning funnel headed in the direction of us.
Sky screamed like she'd just witnessed the most horrifying moment of her life. Neighbors could be heard wailing everywhere as they were thrown into the same predicament as us.
Where do we go?
"C'mon!" I yelled over the overwhelmingly loud and increasing sounds of the tornado. I bolted the door shut and quickly shoved a chair in front of it, as if that would help anything.
Our bathroom was the only option.
I ripped back the curtains and pointed Sky into the bathtub. "I'll be right back baby! I have to get something to protect us!"
"No! Harry!" She screamed, fear overwhelming her as I hurriedly ran to our bedroom. I ripped off the the duvet and pillows and ran back to the bathroom. "Wrap yourself up Sky!" I needed to keep her shielded from any flying, deadly debris. Luna ran in, taking note of our safety precautions and jumping in the tub too.
"Harry! Get down!" Sky screamed. Her hands were still freezing as they gripped my arm and pulled me down with her. She covered me up with her. I was on top of her, willing to risk my life to keep her alive.
Sky's POV
It sounded like an approaching train and we were tied down to the tracks, unable to do anything. My crying was uncontrollable as Harry whispered sweet reassuring comments into my ear. "Sky you know I love you!"
"I love you too Harry!" I sobbed.
The sound grew.
And grew.
Until it was upon us.
The whole apartment started to shake. The sound of glass breaking caused me to flinch. Stuff slid back and forth across the living room. Our possessions shattered to the floor.
Then.
Harry screamed.
Unable to care about my own safety I ripped back the "protecting" duvet.
Harrys shirt was slowly becoming a crimson red.
A piece of glass was sticking out of his back.
"HARRY!" I screamed uncontrollably. I wailed out loud, and felt like a damn had broke lose as my cheeks were covered with tears in a matter of seconds. His chest still moved up in down, reassuring me he was still alive.
A white towel was still hanging on the towel rack. I ripped it off and pressed it around the areas covered in blood.
I hated to do it. But that glass has to come out. "Bite on this towel baby. This is going to hurt"
Harry wailed into the towel and squeezed his eyes as tight as they'd go as I retracted the glass from his blood covered back. I pressed the towel to the open wound, causing him more pain. He was one of the toughest people I know and to see him crying from pain, I know it had to hurt beyond my comprehension.
"I'm so sorry baby. I'm so sorry" I cried as I continued the pressure to his back. The loud sound faded until I knew the devastating tornado had vanished. "Harry" I whispered through my tears.
His breathing had slowed and his eyes were closed.
"Harry!" I screamed, as every fear about losing him came to mind. I pulled his head into my lap and stroked his hair. "I'll be right back baby. Please know I love you and I'm only trying to get you help"
"HELP!" I hollered, my voice week from all my shed tears. I continued my cry for help all the way outside.
Another woman, shaken and crying like me, screamed also... but she was holding someone little. "Please help! My baby girl!" She was historical. The baby in her arms was covered in dust and blood as a large gash continued to poor out.
"Apply pressure!" Was all I could say because no matter how much my heart ached for the broken woman and girl, I was focused on Harry.
Then came the sound of relief.
An ambulance approached us.
I jumped and waved my arms and screamed and did whatever the hell I could do to grab the needed attention of the paramedics.
They stopped.
"He's in here!" Now I was hysterical. "Harry baby helps here. You're going to be ok!" I cried. Two men hoisted him onto a gurney, belly down in consideration of his accident. "Is he alive?" I cried. "Yes. He's just unconscious. We just need to get him to the hospital fast"
I nodded. A small sense of relief fell through me but it wasn't enough to counter act with the million other concerns and heartache I was feeling right now. "Ma'am are you ok?"
"I'm fine!"
"You're forehead..."
I touched my index finger to my forehead.
When I pulled it back it was coated in blood.
Oh.
They put me on a gurney also, fearing my loss of conscience. They were unaware of how much blood I had lost and insisted this per-caution take place. "I'm riding with him!" I sternly informed the paramedics.
And sure enough I did.
They rolled me in right now to my broken hero.
"Harry I love you"
I took his hanging hand in mine and held in close and tight.
"And I'm never leaving your side"
