Sky's POV
What just happened.
I'm... engaged?
I stared at the undeniably flawless ring now hugging my ring finger. "Harry..."
He placed his index finger over my lips. "Shh. I love you" he said and kissed me. I fell into the kiss deeper than I ever had before.
___________I squeezed next to Harry in his hospital bed with my head resting on his chest. "Harry can I ask you something"
"'Course love"
My hands played with hands as I continued talking, "What made you propose?"
"I love you"
"But Harry you were so stern on marriage and how it was nothing you wanted to do. So what changed your mind?"
Harrys chest inhaled deeply and exhaled after, "Them" he said. I expected him to be pointing or gesturing to something, but he didn't. "Who's them?"
"The police..."
"What?..."
"Sky," he pulled me off his chest and I sat up so our eyes were locked because something serious was getting ready to slip his mouth, "they're coming"
"Who? Harry be specific!" I was thoroughly frustrated now. "Who do you think?! Sky who's after me? Hmm? Think!"
"Oh no... Harry no..."
The police. The cops. Every law enforcement had a vague and blurry picture of Harry posted to their walls, 'still on the loose' written above the top. "Harry..." a single tear ran down my face, "how?"
"My hospital record. Somehow they knew I was here... Sky they're coming..."
My heart beat was rapidly increasing to a dangerous speed, my palms seemed to produce an over abundance of moisture and the tears coming from my eyes continued to flow. "But... we're engaged now."
"That's why I proposed. This ring," he picked up my sweaty and shaky hand, "is my promise to you that I'll never stop loving you and as soon as I'm free, that weddings going to happen"
"I love you Harry" I cried. "Sky... you have to leave"
"No!"
"Yes. I'm sorry but they can't know you are associated with me... I won't take you down with me"
"NO! Harry look! That tattoo you have on your wrist signifies that we go down together! I'm not leaving you!"
"Sky please... please..."
I didn't know what else to say. He wanted me gone.
So I left.
The warm air hit me as I ran out of the hospital. Ambulance sirens echoed as the desperate search continued for lives put into danger from today's previous storm. Debris was thrown all throughout the streets, and I preferred walking so I could just see the extent of the damage.
A yellow vacation house was collapsed into the sand of the beach, and light pole had fallen and prevented any transportation from passing, a woman cried as an officer touched her shoulder and talked to her... I knew that woman...
"_________!!!" I yelled and ran over to her. She wailed and crashed into my arms. Her arm was dirty and covered in a crimson red color. "CECELIA!" She cried.
No.
"She's. She's-" and she couldn't say anything else because if I lost my child to such an unexpected accident I would've done the same.
Her hysteria continued even as they loaded her into an ambulance. Her mother had taken my place and was now attempting to soothe the un-curable disease known as loss. I spoke with an officer and he explained that Cecelia had been lost for nearly 2 hours now and the chance of her surviving this long is minimal.
I wasn't going to settle with chances or the possibility of her being gone, I needed facts.
I ignored that fact that I was not dressed for this and started tearing through the debris of what use to be the single mothers apartment. I continued yelling her name.
Until I heard a cry.
It wasn't a 'help me' cry, it was a scared cry. I yelled her name again, and she answered.
I pulled back a decapitated dresser and there sat a dirty and bruised Cecelia. "Oh my gosh!" I cried and scooped up the whimpering toddler. "I found her!" I screamed, and the immediate aide of a paramedic was by my side.
They took Cecelia away, preventing me from riding with her because I wasn't a legal guardian.
My heart was still beating out of my chest as I walked away from the scene.
The air had somehow turned from hot to cool and I was grateful. I needed the chilled air to relax my dangerously increased heart speed. Our apartment suffered no damage from street view, but as soon as I opened the unsecured door, I started to cry. Glass from picture frames, lamps, the TV, spread everywhere. I avoided the dangerous areas.
Our bedroom was torn apart and it was the appropriate time to say it looked like a tornado went through our room.
The picture of Harry and I we had captured at the beach a long time ago, still remained untouched by the violent wind storm. I picked up the fragile frame and tried to remember a time when I believed it was simple, when the threat of Harry being taken away wasn't a very real threat. My dusty sneakers brushed over the floor and cleaned away some of the ruble. With that spot clear, I collapsed and cried onto the blurry glass of the picture frame. Each tear the fell left a clear trail down the frame.
"Why can't life be simple" I yelled "why can't I just be with him forever without the possibility of losing him and falling back into that hell hole he pulled me out of! Without him... I...
sink"This day was far from average and I feared any day from now on, scared it would never be normal again.
Something crunched against the tile floor in the bathroom, and I jumped at the disturbing sound. Luna rounded the corner and sat in front of me.
"Harry saved you" I smiled with tears in my eyes and picked up the little cat, "just like he saved me"
