"Shot in the dark, you got lost.."
The next few days working with Gina were not fun. She was a female Hitler, not in the sense of killing innocent people, but in the sense that she was the dominator. I was surprised at the people that respected her. She continued to train me as best as she could. She got frustrated easily with me. When she would try to teach me how to cook, I burnt every single thing.
Literally, from fish to chicken and everything in-between. I think I might have even burned the water. The bottom line was, I could not cook worth a hoot. Gina got so fed up with me she even screamed in frustration and left me in the dust in the diner kitchen. Becky, the real cook of the place, just laughed her butt off.
Currently, I was working the front as a cashier. Gina demanded that I be nice to the customers. Customers are always right and they always come first. I am too make them happy. That was very difficult, has been difficult with old women snapping at me. They said I didn't move fast enough but tried. I really did. I just couldn't figure out the touch screen.
There was a new person that walked into the diner. He was tall and had tan skin. Kind of abnormal from the people that I have seen here. He had black hair and it was dripping wet. That told me that it was raining hard outside. Something I have learned to succumb to here in the great state of Oregon. Why did it have to rain so much anyway.
I was also a host at this diner. I groaned. Why couldn't people just leave this diner and go home. I loved teasing Gina. I looked at him, he followed and sat down at the table. A didn't smile like I was supposed to. For two reasons. One, he wasn't a woman. Two, I was grumpy because I wanted to go home. Could I call that place home? I had been there for a little over a week now.
I hadn't seen LauraKate again. It made me mad. She was supposed to be helping me but he hadn't called me back. I couldn't think about it right now or I would be angry.
"Can you tell Gina to come out here?" He said.
I didn't respond. I just walked away and went to the back. When I got to the back I saw Gina. Her long black hair was in a braid today. It suited her. I was surprised that when we got up and going that her hair wasn't frizzy. She must have finally used a product to make it stay down. Her braid went all down the contours of her back. Her small waist had a belt around it, making her curvy hips fan out into her nice bum.
I loved looking at it. Especially like now. She could always tell though because she was now flipping me off. When a man sees a nice butt he will look. It is in a man's jeans. Speaking of jeans, mine seem to be getting a little tighter in the front. I adjusted myself and walked closer to her. I grabbed her braid and twisted it in my hands. She sighed and yanked her head to the side.
"Who is the pesterer now?" She smirked.
I made a face at her and pointed behind me. "There is a guy out there requesting you." I said to her.
She furrowed her eyebrows and walked around me to the opening of the kitchen. She gasped and ran out of the kitchen. She was squealing as she jumped onto the man. The man smiled at her and spun her around.
I was leaning on the counter where peoples had to pay and was pretending to be busy on the touchscreen.
"Zayn! I have missed you so much." Gina said.
This Zayn smiled at her and sat down at the booth. "Niall is coming as well." Zayn said.
"Did you just have to come reserve a table? You know because all of the other ones are filled?" Gina said snickering.
I probably shouldn't have been nosy but I couldn't help it. I had never seen Gina interact with other people. She had always seemed like an antisocial type. Okay that was a lie because she was the least antisocial person ever. She was always talking someone's ear off. Much like Imogen.
"What about Shane?" She asked him.
"He got caught up with a few things." He said.
She nodded and turned to look at me. She was nibbling on her lip. A habit I learned she did when she wanted to say something but she didn't ever say it. Much like the deep conversation we had the other day about people running over her. It was still hard for me to believe that she was 20.
She waved me over to her. I tapped the counter before walking over there. I leaned on her side of the booth and looked at her. Her brown eyes were nervous as she scooted over and patted the seat for me to sit down. I sat down next to her and put my arms on the table.
"Zayn, this is Harry." She said looking from me to Zayn.
She grips my hand from under the table. She has never touched me before, not like this. Her hand was shaking. She was scared of this Zayn. Whoever he was she was scared of him. She put on a fake smile as she looked at me.
"Harry, this is Zayn." She said.
I nodded in his direction but didn't take my eyes off of her. I wanted to know what had her so scared of him. I squeezed her hand to let her know that she would be okay near me.
Zayn smiled at me.
"How have you been, GG." He said.
Gina nibbled on her lip and looked at me through the corner of my eyes. Her eyes darted to Zayn as she plastered on a fake smile.
"Ive been good, Zayn. Im just really tired today." She said.
"How come?" He asked.
"Ive been working a lot." She said.
She wasn't her normal blunt, overbearing, inquisitive self. She was timid and scared. The door opened and her eyes went wide as she saw another guy walk in. She yelped with joy as the boy walked in. A short skinny guy with blonde hair.
"NIALL!" She yelled and kissed all over his face, like a mother would her child.
He pushed her face away. She towered over him too. She was so tall, and it was so hot. But I couldn't think this because Imogen said so and I wouldn't be here long. Didn't mean I couldn't admire her.
"OK, OK, Gina off!" The guy said.
She giggled and pinched his nose. "How is my little boy doing?" She asked.
Little boy? What the hell?
"Im not your little boy. Im your little friend. Just because your taller than me means nothing." Niall said and walked to the booth to sit next to Zayn.
They started small chatter as Gina was now staring into empty space. She turned around with her feet in the aisle of the diner and walked out of the front door. I nodded toward the people she knew, bumping shoulders with some guy that had just walked in as she left. I walked after her wondering what was had changed her attitude.
