Gossip girlThe whole ride to the bar consisted of silence. Gemma was driving because I had absolutely no idea where I was headed. Gemma did try and talk to me but I couldn’t hear a word she was saying. I was so worried for Gina that I could hardly breathe. Why had she ran from me? What had bothered her so much that she couldn’t talk to me about it?
Was she in trouble at the bar? Was someone trying to hit on her and making her freak out? All of these horrible scenarios were playing in my mind and I couldn’t eradicate them.
I close my eyes tightly, trying to make myself feel better about this situation. Gina was the only person I loved in this world excluding myself. I would do anything to protect her. Maybe I didn’t do a well enough job in showing her that. Perhaps I would have to be more affectionate. Affection was something that was never shown to me as a child.
I was new to this whole relationship concept. I didn’t know what to do. I stay silent as the car finally stops. I sigh nervously and look at Gemma beside me. She gives me a half smile before nodding her head at me. I rotate my neck from side to side before I finally get out of the car.
I surrender my hands to my pockets and I keep my head down to look at my boots. I need new ones. As I get near the door of the pub, my heart starts to accelerate. I didn’t know what I would find once I opened this door. I don’t know if I want to know or not.
Gina is in there and she needs you. I chant to myself as I open the door. Once the door is opened, the smell of smoke fills my nose. I scrunch my nose up and continue my gait inside. The lights are dim and the sound of some heavy rock band is playing in the background.
There are a few pool tables, dart stations, and of course a long bar filled with people. My eyes scan over every inch of the bar trying to find Gina. I don’t see her at all. I walk closer to the bar and I lean on the edge. I cock my head forward and try to see if she is at the bar. She isn’t.
I sigh and wave my hand in the air, signaling the bartender. The woman was busy with another person. She looked down the line at all of the other hands in the air. I couldn’t make out what she was saying, but she was quick with her hands and was gliding on air. She filled every man and woman’s cups. Once she was in front of me she sighed in relief.
“You’re the last one for right this moment. My name is Daisy, what can I get ya?” She asks me.
“I just need to know if you have seen a tall girl, black hair, and brown eyes.” I say, grasping my phone in my pocket.
I unlock my phone and I scroll to a picture of Gina. I flash the screen to Daisy. She shrugs her shoulders.
“I don’t remember faces much. I remember people by the drinks they order. Do you know what drink she would usually get?” Daisy asks me, whizzing away to help another man.
Once she was done with the man she came back to me. She leans on the top of the bar and grabs my phone from my hand.
“She is beautiful, but im sorry I haven’t seen her that I can recall.”
I close my eyes and try to recall what kind of drinks Gina gets. I don’t think I had ever been to a bar with her. I didn’t think she ever drinks either. I look at Daisy. Her blue eyes are happy, and her brown hair is a mess. I sigh before speaking. “She doesn’t drink. She would get a coke or a Dr. Pepper.” I tell her.
