Dallas
Maybe he was being too harsh to her. Dally wanted to make it up to her and take her over ice cream. The problem was, it was 3 in the morning and he didn't know if she was awake.

He decided to take his chances.

He was nervous the whole way over to her house. He wanted her to forgive him for being so rude to her, but he wasn't sure if she would. He knew her very well, but not well enough to know how she would react to this situation.

He walked up to her door and weakly knocked on it. He waited a few moments before she appeared in the doorway. Dally thought she looked like a goddess.

"You're soaking wet! Come in," she said urgently, like she was in a rush.

Truth be told, Dally hadn't really noticed it was raining. He was too busy worrying if he still had a chance with Thalia.

Thalia
Thalia threw the letter into the closest drawer  when someone had knocked on her door. She was questioning who it would be at this time in the morning, but a part of her already knew who it was.

He was standing right in front of her. He was drenched in water from his head to his toes. Thalia told him to come in and went to get him something to drink. He set the ice cream down on the kitchen table.

Thalia walked out with a yellow towel for him.

He snickered when he saw the towel in her hand.

"Thal?"

"Hm?"

"Why do you love yellow so much?"

"It's the most optimistic color out there."

Dally finally understood something about the girl. He didn't understand why she loved ice cream so much, and he didn't understand why she said no to him earlier that day. But now, he finally understood one of the crazy things he loved about her.

And she understood him when he told her why he was so upset.

She had told herself that she would come clean to him weeks ago. And now she finally had the courage to go through with it.

"I'm dying, Dal," she said, carefully.

"What do you mean, hon?" He asked.

"The doctors said I have some rare disease," she told him.

"But, there is a cure right?" Dally asked.

"No. Not quite yet," she told him, not trying to get his hopes up.

"But I do love you," she said.

"I do love you," she said in a quieter voice this time.

"Hon, I will love you forever,"

Dally embraced her in a hug that could have made anyone feel secure.

You're the type of person that makes forever seem too short.
