Chapter Eighteen:
Drunken Adventures + Sugar Quills•••
JESSIE WASN'T EVEN sure who turned seventeen today. But all she knew was that they were from Ravenclaw. There was blue everywhere, it was, without a doubt, Ravenclaw Tower.
The music was blaring Jessie's favorite pop song. She had a cup of Fire Whiskey in her hand. Her back was to James, his hands on her waist as their hips moved together. Jessie sang along to the song, downing her second cup of alcohol that night. She laughed as they danced among the crowd of drunken teenagers.
The song ended, and Jessie whirled around. "I'm gonna go get a refill. I'll be back," she smiled, kissing James's cheek before stumbling over to the table of drinks.
"Jessica, that dress is doing wonders for you," came the voice of Regulus Black.
"Unfortunately for you, my boyfriends the only one who gets to touch." She winked at the boy to her right.
Regulus laughed, grabbing her waist, pulling her back to him. Jessie whirled around faster than lightning and threw her Fire Whiskey at him.
"Sod off, Regulus," Jessie shouted.
She was drunk, but not drunk enough to mess around with Regulus Black. She wasn't that stupid.
"It's been almost four months. Leave me alone already, would you. Go terrorize someone else," she said as she poured herself another cup of the drink. "Such a waste of alcohol," she muttered, acknowledging his dripping hair.
Remus, the only sober one, was trying to contain his laughter across the room. Jessie winked at him as she made her way over to James who had sat on one of the various couches across the room. She settled onto his lap, smiling at Lily and her Ravenclaw boyfriend who sat with them.
"I saw what you did to Regulus," James said and then hugged her tightly, "That's my girl!" He grinned.
"James you're going to make me vomit, stop!" She laughed, his squeezing too tight. She kissed his cheek, watching as a few couples that had been making out disappeared for the night.
James watched them go, looking up at Jessie. He knew nothing could ever really happen there, at least not for a while. Lily still came to their dorm at night, demanding someone come calm Jessie down after the girl woke from a night terror featuring Regulus Black and a baby.
He'd wait for her forever if he really had to. And Jessie tried everyday to get better. But it was like fixing a broken vase. You can glue it together, but it will never be the same. But instead of gluing herself together, Jessie was making herself a mosaic of the broken pieces.
She was a goddess, and his.
"We should go flying!" Jessie suggested, smiling down at him.
"Jessie, you're way to drunk to control a broom," James snorted, taking her cup from her.
