JESSIE KISSED JAMES for good luck, adjusting his goggles.

"Good luck out there, captain."

James grinned down at Jessie. "Good luck, angel."

"Okay, guys! Come on! We have a game to play!" one of the Chasers shouted at the couple who blushed. Jessie grabbed her broom quickly, marching out before James could kiss her again.

"Seriously, you two spend more time staring at each other than not. It's going to make us lose!" a beater complained.

James fixed the goggles over his eyes, stepping out into the rain. "Stop complaining before I kick you off. There was at least three other people to fill your spot."

That shut the guy up.

They all took up their positions, kicking off the ground as the game began. Jessie circled the pitch, searching, searching, searching...

In the mean time, James had scored two points, Jessie cheering for him each time. Pride swelled in her heart.

Her eyes caught the Snitch and she didn't hesitate to dive for it. James shouted her name as the bludger slammed into her shoulder. Jessie screamed, her legs and good arm clinging to the broom.

"James the quaffle," Jessie yelled as she righted herself.

James pulled it closer to his chest just as a Hufflepuff tried to snatch it. He dove straight for the Hufflepuff rings.

Jessie let out another scream as a second bludger hit her other shoulder. James threw the  quaffle, turning to see Jessie fly into the stands. She flew straight into Sirius and Remus who were cheering in the stands.

James moved fast to avoid a bludger. In the crowd Sirius shouted victoriously, hold up Jessie's arm that held the snitch.

"GRYFFINDOR WINS!"

That night in the Common Room they partied hard. Unfortunately, no one could get a hold of the alcohol, but they still partied anyway.

Jessie's shoulders were bruised but not broken. James sat next to her on the couch. As Sirius has said: "They we're trying to eat each other."

"Oi! Potter! Black!" a voice shouted across the room. They pulled back, looking over at the sixth year who shouted at them. "If you two hadn't stopped making goo-goo eyes at each other, we would have lost the match!"

Jessie scoffed, pushing to her feet. "I won the game with two shattered shoulders," she growled. "I'd like to see you do that, Zachariah."

"Is that a challenge?" the boy growled, standing up taller.

James was slowly pushing to his feet, glancing at Remus and Sirius.

"Maybe it is. Maybe you should stop making goo-goo eyes at your girlfriend in class and you'd pass!" Jessie said, hands clenching into fists.

"Don't speak about my girlfriend!" Zachariah roared, launching himself at Jessie.

With ease, Jessie sidestepped, pinning him to the ground instantly.

James and Sirius hauled Jessie off the boy. The five marauders disappeared into the boys' dorm. Jessie trashed in her friends arms, legs kicking. One hit Sirius who dropped her, falling to the ground.

Jessie nearly got away, but James pulled her back against him.

"Jessica Verity Black. Calm. Down," he growled quietly.

Jessie whimpered, trying to pull away, breathing heavy with anger. James didn't let her go until finally she had relaxed in his arms.

"I'm fine, James. I'm fine."

James nodded, gently letting go of her. "What the hell was that?"

"Do you think Voldemort's right? That there is darkness within me?" she asked softly.

Her friends glanced at each other with concern.

"Jess..." Remus started reaching for her hand.

"You do?" She blinked at Remus.

"W-what? All I said was Jess!"

"I knew what you were gonna say!" Jessie shouted, hands balled in fists.

Remus took a step away, looking to Sirius. They were a tag team working to comfort Jessie. Jessie wasn't stupid though, she saw it.

"I'm fine!" she yelled at the four of them.

"Jessica," Peter said softly. "When do you...you know...?"

"When do—" Jessie turned bright red. "PETER!" she shouted at him.

James's lips suddenly parted in realization.

"I think we're mature enough," Peter said calmly.

"Usually around the twentieth," Jessie huffed. "Why does it matter?"

"Today's the nineteenth."

"I don't understand female anatomy," Sirius said, looking between the two in deep confusion.

"She gets a little emotional before she..." Peter started.

"I do not!" Jessie snapped. Her face turned a darker red. "O-oh. Sorry."

"You should lay down and relax, Jess. Sirius and I can go get ice cream. Do you like ice cream?" Peter asked gently.

Jess nodded, suddenly looking exhausted. James placed a hand on her lower back, guiding her to his bed. She leaned into her boyfriends embrace, sniffling.

Remus sat at the foot of James's bed while Jessie curled into James's arms.

"I'm sorry for yelling at you, Remus," she said softly.

"You don't have darkness in you Jess. You are pure, beautiful sunshine."
