"SEVERUS SNAPE," JESSIE shouted. "GET BACK! I'm warning you!"

Severus Snape didn't listen. Jessie watched as the werewolf launched himself at Snape. She made a stupid choice and shoved the Slytherin away, leaving her to wrestle with her best friend.

Jessie woke with a gasp, covered in sweat. Tears poured down her face. She shot out of bed, rushing into the other Marauders' room. They all jumped awake as the door hit the wall. They stared at Jessie in surprise. She hasn't done much moving around since her and James's fight a week ago. Nor much talking.

"You're going to try and hurt Snivellus!" Jessie exclaimed sitting on Remus's bed.

"Can you at least tell me why? I don't fancy hurting people without a cause," Remus said half awake.

"He follows you into the Shack tomorrow! Oh I know it!" she gasped.

Sirius threw a pillow at Jessie. "A wonderful story, Jess. But please go back to bed, I need my beauty rest!"

Remus rolled his eyes, grabbing Jessie's hand gently. "How do you know?" Jessie could see the acute fear in his eyes. He never wanted to hurt anyone.

"I had a dream," she started. "No, no! A vision!"

"Go to bed Jessie. Your probably getting sick," Remus said getting up and helping her to the door.

"Moony!" she whined, begging him listen to her.

"Oi! You're messing with my beauty rest!" Sirius exclaimed. "Did you not hear me the first time?"

"I believe you Jess," James said softly from across the room. They all blinked at the boy who reached for his glasses. "No really. I'm not just kissing up to her. I think she's being serious. And no, not S-I-R-I-U-S, Sirius."

Jessie stared at her boyfriend. The two hasn't spoken in a week, but yet he still defended her. Her heart swelled with joy for a second before she recalled why they weren't talking.

"I'll see you all tomorrow," she mumbled, going back to her and Lily's dorm.

James frowned as the door clicked shut. He sighed softly, falling back dramatically against the headboard.

"She loves him, she loves him not," Sirius said sarcastically, tossing a pillow at his love sick friend.

James caught it with ease. He tossed his glasses on the nightstand, and laid back down, though he knew he couldn't sleep now. She'd never be with him again, he knew it. He really screwed up.

The next morning when Remus tried to wake him, James mumbled something about not feeling well and let his friends leave him. It was then he sought out left over fire whiskey. He brought the bottle to his lips as Jessie came storming in.

"Okay Remus, I'll tell you one last—James?" Jessie frowned over at her boyfriend. He lowered the bottle shamefully. "It's only eight in the morning and you're drinking?" She snatched the bottle, opening the window and dumped its contents outside.

James didn't protest and just watched. "Jess?"

"Hm?" she asked as she set about the room to gather James's uniform.

"I love you," he said softly, fiddling with his sleeves. James Potter didn't fiddle with his sleeves bashfully when talking to girls. He was the definition of confidence.

But he'd never felt this way for anyone like he did for Jessie. She did this to him.

Jessie stopped what she was doing, calmly making her way over to him. She sat on the bed next to him. "You don't think I love you, too? Cause I do, James. But what you did—"

James surged forward to kiss her. James expected her to push back but she didn't. She kissed back, drawing him closer. Their hearts soared, fireworks sparked in their chests...they'd forgotten all about getting James to class.

And an hour later, when Remus returned to check in James between classes, he saw both James and Jessie both fast asleep. Their clothes were tossed about the room. He smiled, they would be okay.

•••

Jessie and James came to dinner that night, hands intertwined. Jessie looked happier than she had all week; James as cocky as ever.

"Rumor has it you got laid," Sirius grinned.

"Sod off, Sirius!" James rolled his eyes.

"How long? Cause he hasn't—" Sirius turned his attention to Jessie who was blushing a bit.

"Sirius Black! You do not want to face the wrath of a Black!" Jessie growled in response.

"Easy Tiger," he winked at his friend.

"I thought you were afraid after..." Peter started to say, gesturing with his toast.

Jessie lowered her eyes to her empty plate. "A year ago, Regulus Black raped me for four months. James is not Regulus."

James gently placed a hand on her thigh. Just to let his girlfriend know he was there. He'd keep her safe. He kissed her cheek gently.

"Okay can we pretty please talk about my dream!" she begged her friends. "The full moon is tomorrow, and you know Snivels has been suspicious since third year. What makes you think he won't try something drastic?"

Remus sighed. "We'll be on the lookout, okay? If your right, and I'm hoping not, you know we'll have to tell Dumbledore about your dream don't you?"

"What? Tell him that I possess the ability to see the future and would be an even more precious asset in the hands of Voldemort?" Jessie hissed. "This information cannot get out."

She looked first to her boyfriend who nodded. Then to Remus. Then Sirius. Then

Peter.
