With some hint of irony, the rain stopped when I reached the roof. The sun came out from behind the clouds and there was a faint rainbow on the horizon.

The air is cool and there's a slight breeze knocking everything around. The ledge of the roof is wet but not slippery. The clouds are a light gray.

The city is just waking up, the birds beginning their song and the office people heading to their mundane and mindless jobs for the day.

To temp fate once more I stand on the edge and hold my arms out, walking around like a tight rope walker. I smile to myself then let my arms fall to the side. I take a deep breath and take notice of everything around me. I take notice of everything surrounding me in my final moments.

So, I watch and stare.

I stare at the cars.

I stare at the people.

I look up and I stare at the sky.

I stare at the clouds.

A few birds fly by. I stare at those, too.

Then, I look at the buildings. Some are completely lit up. Others are only partially.

I stare at the cars.

My feet lift up. The concrete is cold and rough against my bare feet. My white sandals are standing on top of my note on the roof floor next to me.

The wind is calm and the air is crisp and clean.

My eyes close. I let the darkness take forward as I lift my foot to step forward. The wind pushes against me like it doesn't want me to move.

Just as I lean forward, I'm jerked backwards. And I land on something warm.

A/N: I know this is a short chapter but I didn't feel like this one should be super long and I tried to fix it so it's longer but it didn't feel right to me
