Jac's POV
Jen left the conversation a week ago. We added her back to the conversation but she doesn't talk there. Matter of fact, she hasn't talked to us at all this whole week. Its almost as if she's ignoring us.
"Hey guys, have you noticed that Jen is uhhh.... ignoring us?", I said. Myself, Mac, and Nikko were walking to History. Jen usually waited for us before going to the next class but she now leaves immediately and joins some girls in the hallway. They talk like they are old friends. I thought we were her only friends. "Yeah, I noticed that too," said Nikko. Mac nodded. I'll be completely honest with you, I felt jealous. She was spending more time with those girls than us.
"Hey, Mac?", I asked. "Yeah?" "Who are those girls Jen is with?". I just really needed to know by now. Its Friday, I cant deal with her not talking to us for another week. I miss her.
"Oh, those 3 girls she's been hanging out with? Their names are Jenna, Christine, and Brooke. They were her best friends before we came along. Strange, she hasn't talked to them since 4th grade and all of a sudden they seem like best friends again..." I could hear the pain in his voice when he said the last sentence. "They seem like best friends again"
~45 Minutes Later~
I felt a tap on my shoulder. "Hey.." That voice.... I know that voice.... "Jen..?"
"Hey Jac. Ummm. Sorry for ignoring you guys. I guess I just felt... jealous?" Jen said. Why would she be jealous? And then it hit me. "Mac and Nikko? Yeah. They're weird but you have to admit. They make a great couple." I said. We both gave a soft laugh. There was a bit of silence until Jen said, "Listen. I wanted to tell you something. Something I never had the guts to say."
What was she going to say? Something good? Bad? Does she not want to be friends with us anymore? With me? I've always had a crush on her and honestly, if she left me, I wouldn't know what to do with myself.
"So. What I wanted to say is. I li-" BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRING. The bell rang and there was a swarm of kids. I got a text from Mac.
Mr.MacMac: Can't find Jen. You?
TheJacJac: Yeah. With her rn
NikkoDaGaiBoi: Invite her to pizza.
TheJacJac: Will do.
"Hey Je-..." When I looked up... She was gone. So were all the rest of the students. She was gone.
Gone....
Mac's POV
I could tell Jac was heartbroken when I told him that Jen was hanging out with her old best friends. Heck, they were dressing alike again. The last time I saw them all together like that was in 4th grade, the grade where I was a big jerk to them. I didn't really know why she even became friends with me. So when she began to ignore us, I felt like I deserved it. I'm currently waiting at the pizza place with Nikko, alone. We are waiting for Jac and Jen. Apparently, he found her. I'm looking down at my phone when I hear someone sit by me. "Hey Jac, Jen". I look up and find Jac sitting next to me.
Once I see his face, I notice that he is on the verge of tears. Jennifer isn't with him. Tf? "Where's Jen?" I asked him. He just shook his head. "Y-you good?" "I-I'm going to get p-pizza," Nikko said. When he left, Jac started to sob quietly. "Jac? What happened?" he explained everything. Was Jen really gone? He started sobbing a bit louder. I embraced him in a hug. He was my best friend after all. This wasn't the first time he was crying so I knew what to do. Nikko came back with a certain someone.
"I knew you guys would be here," Jen said. "Jen? Jen!" Jax and I said at the same time. "Guys I'm sorry for ignoring you. I felt like I just didn't belong in your group... I felt useless. I feel so bad but I'm here now. Can I still hang out?" she asked. "Are you shitting me? Of course! After all, you need to be with Jac." I said.
"KiNkY~!"
I looked up, smiling. "You learn fast, Nikko". He responded with a wink. I felt my face get red. Jen shook her head slowly. "No. Just. No". I knew it got to them but they knew Nikko and I were joking. They started blushing. "Come on guys. Let's eat." And with that, we started eating. We all went home after that. The Valentine's Dance was coming soon. I'm going to ask Nikko. Little did I know, that was NOT how tomorrow would go.
