Chapter Sixteen

Mac's POV

I was going to student council early so I didn't have to bump into Nikko.

"Mac?"

Son of a bitch.

"Mac wait up!" Nikko told me. All I heard was his voice but it was going through one ear and out the other. I kept walking until Nikko caught up with me.  He grabbed my arm and turned me to face him. "What do you want Nikko?" I was still angry at him for kissing Jen. How does he even THINK of doing such a thing. I guess he never really did like me. Just lies.

"Mac. I am SO sorry. I don't even know why I kissed Jen. Please forgive me Mac." he said."Oh that makes sense. I forgive you." "Really?" he asked.

"NO! I can't believe you actually think I would forgive you after you did that. You want to know the worst part though? You enjoyed it. You looked happy and for once you actually looked like you would do anything for her. She's been my best friend for a long time. But if you two are happy then...don't let me get in the way."

The old guilt train. Always makes them think. Always works. I walked off to student council. I think Nikko was trying to call me but I didn't hear any thing. Truth be told I still love him. But I don't want to be the douchebag that breaks them up so I can swoop in. I really want to forgive him but he kissed Jen. How could he do that?

When I walked into student council, I had to sit next to Jen. I looked around the room but the only empty chair was next to Nikko. "Bullshit" I muttered. I think Jen heard me because she slumped down slowly in her chair. Could this day get any worse? Jen stayed silent.

I was gathering my things because the meeting had just ended when our ASB teacher called me back. "Mac can I see you for a second?" Fuck.

Everyone knows that when a teacher gives you that tone and tells you that phrase you know nothing good can come of it.

"Mac I hate to do this but its for your own good. You should not be involved in any fights as ASB Vice President. You aren't exactly the role model student. And on top of that... you're... dating boy!" "Used to.." I muttered. "Excuse me?" she asked. "I USED to be dating a boy!" I said. "Im sorry but you are no longer our Vice President." "Wow. Fine here" I left my badge on the desk and stormed out. Nikko was standing by the door. "Mac are yo-" "SHOVE IT" I told him. I pushed by him and kept walking.

My boyf riend cheated on me, my best friend betrayed me, and the one thing I loved to do was taken away from me. There's only one person I can trust.

MrMacMac: You there?

TheJacJac: Yeah

MrMacMac: You saw Nikko and Jen kiss right?

TheJacJac: Yeah...

MrMacMac: I know you had feelings for Jen. Sorry about that.

TheJacJac: I'm sorry for you too. That must have sucked for you.

MrMacMac: C'mon. Meet you at the corner.

TheJacJac: Alright. See you there.

I walked to the corner. Jac has always been there for me. I'm glad he's here for me now.

Le Time Skip

After they took VP away from me they appointed someone very familiar...

Erikka!

I haven't seen Erikka since 3rd grade! She was my BEST FRIEND before I and Jac met Jen. We were inseperable! I had never told Jen about Erikka. Her parents were the best. Her mom and dad would bake cookies for us and her mom let us play with her makeup. Well, I didn't use the makeup, Erikka did. I would borrow her dad's ties when I was over at her house.

Her parents babysat me since kinder. Yeah. Jac would sometimes join us because his dad had to work. I remember that Jac's sister used to call us 'the cutest trio'. She is 5 years older than us.

I bet Erikka would get along just fine with Jen. I mean- Jen can be a bit...Overprotective but she accepted Nikko surprisingly easy. Then again that wasnt a good idea.

"Well well well. If it isn't Ms. Erikka Opez. It's been a while!" I put my arm out for her to shake but instead, she hugged me. Surprised at the sudden action, I wasn't exactly hugging her back. Her hug is something I remember the most, though. Gentle yet confident. Not to the point that it hurts but not at the point where it feels like nobody is even hugging you. I missed her hugs.

I really need to introduce her to Jen. "MAC! Its been so long! Too long!" I looked to my side to see Nikko staring at me. Perfect. I act as if I don't see him and seize the opportunity. 

I hugged Erikka back.

That might get to him. HUGE dick move but hey, he kissed Jen in front of me soooo... Not only that but he kissed her in front of Jac. So my actions are justified....sorta. I won't lie, I miss hugging her. She is shorter than me so hugging her feels....comfortable? She's an inch shorter than Jen. 

"How are you, Ms.Opez? You still have a dream of being the first astronaut/lawyer/engineer?" I asked her. She was a bright student back when we were best friends. I bet she still is. I'm surprised I hadn't seen her this year. I never knew what happened to her. By the middle of 3rd grade, she was already gone. By then, we had met Jen. 

"Of course! What about you, Mr.Hernandez? Do YOU still have that dream of being a singer/musician/world record breaker?" I was a weird kid...Like, REALLY weird. 

"Sort of. It's been too long. We have to talk" I told her. We started talking about what was going on in our lives, how much we missed each other.

I looked to my side and saw Nikko staring at us. Hmmmm. Why does he care? He obviously didn't care about me at the dance why does he care about me know? Is... Is he jealous? Perfect. 

As if she knew what was going on inside my head, she asked the long expected question-"So...... Are you dating anyone?". Here goes nothing.

"Yeah. Well. I WAS. I guess we are over now...." by now I felt the pain in my heart again. "You guess you are over now? What did he do??", she asked.

"There was this boy. Nikko Barque is his name. He was the new student and we hit it off right away. Like a month after he arrived, we became a couple.  And we were really good together. But..... At the dance two weeks ago... He kissed my friend... Maybe you've heard of her. Jennifer Animy?" I left out the best friend part. As soon as I said Jen's name, her jaw dropped. Of course, she knew who she is. 

"I was heartbroken. Scratch that, I am heartbroken. I'm not mad at Jen, I'm mad at Nikko. I haven't talked to him since that day 2 weeks ago. What about you? Meet anyone special?" "Sorta. I mean, I will never have a chance with him but that won't stop me from hoping!" Erikka replied. I have to admit, Erikka is kinda cute.

I mean, I'm not with Nikko anymore so he can't stop me from having crushes. Still, I feel like he didn't mean to kiss Jen... OH WELL. He screwed up his chances with me. I turned to see if Nikko was still there and he was. 

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRING.

The bell rang. I have an idea......

"Hey, Erikka? Can I have your number, y'know to catch up? I would love to introduce you to Jen by the way. And Jac; he is going to be so happy as soon as I tell him you are back!", I asked. "O-Of course! And please do introduce me to Jennifer! I bet we will be great friends!" She put her number in my contacts. We hugged and said good-bye.

She was about to walk away but I grabbed her arm and did the most dick move thing I could think of that didn't require me to kiss her anywhere near her beautiful face. I kissed her hand. "Till we meet again, my female friend" 

She giggled and then walked to her class. I started walking to Mr.Shaqui's class, the absolute best math teacher. On my way there, I noticed that Nikko has not moved. I'm getting closer to where he's standing and when I pass him, I smirk.
