Nico's P.O.V

UNEDITED

"I mean, what happened? Who did this to you?"

"I already told you, no one. It was a monster." The intense stare she gives me feel like daggers into my soul. I play with my fingers as a distraction from her eyes.

"Your lying. Who did this?"

"No one"

Annabeth stares at me for a few more seconds before she speaks again.

"Was it Will?

Will? What the fuck does he have to do anything?

My heart beats against my ribcage as if it was trying to break through. Will has nothing to do with this, that's insane. "Nico," she asks with worry in her voice, "are you okay?"

"I'm fine. Why do you think Will has anything to do with this?",I ask trying to hide the fear in my voice with frustration.

"Nico, don't lie to me. I'm not dumb. I can read emotions. Your hiding something and your trying to cover it up."

Anger boils inside me. She acts like she knows everyone, and can fix everything. She can't, and she needs to acknowledge that.

"For the last time, I got attacked by a monster. It you can't accept that I suggest you leave, cause quite fra-"

"Nico, for the love of Zeus! You can't just keep hiding like this. I know, and you know quite dam well that your not taking me seriously and not telling the truth!" I stare at her with wide eyed, her sudden outburst surprising me. She was no right to say such things.

"I think you need to leave," I find myself growling, "since your to caught up in your own fucking thoughts and theorizing to realize the truth."

She looks me in a apologetic manner, realizing her own words. "Nico I didn't mean for it to come out that way-"

"Yeah, you meant to sugarcoat it, maybe even put some cherries on top. But those where your real thoughts, and your real thoughts are wrong. Go."Annabeth looks down at the floor through her legs. Her blonde hair in front her face keeps me from reading it. She eventually stands up from the wooden chair and looks back up at me.

"Find me whenever your ready to face the truth that you've been holding back," she says, "I truly care about you Nico. Seeing the pain and fear in your eyes that you try to cover up, hurts. Someday you won't be able to hold it all back and you'll fall. I'll try my best to help you when that happens. Until then, I'll leave like you wish." And with that she walks out the door.

Annabeths P.O.V.

I kick the rough gravel from under my feet afar as I continue down the trampled ground made by years of rushing campers. Clear water spread out in front of me from the lake when I reached my desired spot, and sat with knees to my chest. Dead bushes on both sides hide me from view

Why did that boy have to be so stubborn? He clearly was hurting and wouldn't admit to it. Will is a part of it, no doubt. Ever since he has been going to that school he has just seemed way more exausted. Always with bags under his eyes and a more dead look in his eyes, nethier of which you would notice of you didn't look closely. Of course, it could be anyone at that school but she shallow mutters under his breath he thought no one could hear, always included one name.

Will.

It's only been a day that Will has taken home at camp, but I could already tell knew something wasn't right about him. Nico had ran from Will when he first arrived. That isn't like him. Sure, he doesn't like talking much and when he does it's most likely a snarky response but he wouldn't of ran. He would of put up a fight at least.

Does he even have any friends in that school? Does any one talk to him? If he could just realize he could talk to any of us, like Hazel and me, he could be such more open and happier.

The water ripples out in the distance from canoeing campers, laughing and hitting each other's boats as if they where bumper carts. But their laughs where distant from me. Mutters and fast whispers coming from a short distance grasps my attention instead. The word 'why' mostly on replay.

My head tilts in the direction of the nosies, trying to see the source. Of course I hadn't but it was in instinct of human nature. I would need to get up and pull through the bushes to find the troubled person.

Ever so slightly, so I don't frighten them away, I lift myself of the ground and near the bushes. A sneak of black hair is all I see of them though, because of the thick branches. They seem to be on their knees, moving back and fourth. My heart beats faster as i realize they might be having a panic attack. I remember Luke and Thalia sometimes having them and feeling so helpless, not able to look away nor help.

I try to stick my arm through the branches, and pull at them trying to get to the other side. The long sharp thorns dig into my arms letting blood drip down my fingers. I try to pull it out, only for it to feel like when you put your finger in a fast-food cup straw hole and pull it out. With my dagger and free arm, I eventually get out but at a cost. The brunet had heard the rustle i had caused and looked up. The violet eyes of the person momentary captivate me before they see me and take off.

"Wai--!" i scream out after them but their already gone. I just stare at the ghost of the black haired person wondering what the Hades just happened.
