Nicos P.O.V.

"Honestly, I'm surprised your healing so fast Nico. Usually people with this many injuries are in here for at least half a month. You're already off your IVs and up and able to walk."Alex says finishing up changing my bandages, "But I do need you to tell me what happened, though. What ever it was had pretty thin claws, pretty tactical too. There was a lot of nasty bruising throughout your body, only a couple new, though. Most seemed to be older." I momentarily freeze, stunned on how I could forget such a vital thing. That could be a huge giveaway to a secret I've been so desperately keeping quite. It was silly thought though, there was no way they could figure out by a detail like that. A demi-gods life was a magnificent cover up.

Kayla walks up behind her with a bored expression on her face, arms crossed. "Hey Nico, hope you're doing alright. Alex, you almost done?"

"Mhm, lemme just finish this last bandage. This shouldn't take too long, go ahead without me if you really want."

"Kay, see ya later." She takes a moment to hug her sister before taking off with Austin and Will, then heading out the wooden door.

Alex focuses her attention back on to me, her gentle hands lifts my lower leg a little higher so she could reach it. I wince slightly and she notices. "Are you okay? I could get some numbing pills if you like."

"It's fine."

"You sure?"

I nod my head, signaling that was the end of it. Honestly, it did hurt, but not as much as one would think. Somewhere in between school and fighting monsters part time, my pain tolerance had become increasingly high.

She tears the rest of the bandages of my leg and lathers the new ointment into the infected area. I had to look away because the sight of it made me gag. The cut was all the way down my lower thigh, maybe one or two inches deep. It didn't sound that much but my legs were skinnier than most, most definitely paler.

"Done," she smiles, "You should be up and back in school in no time. On crutches obviously." I shake my head telling her that I heard. Her smile falters, but she doesn't say anything. Her head turns around to look at the other patients. Since it wasn't summer the building was naturally pretty empty. The girl with the short hair was now gone, leaving only two other people in the room who were currently taking naps.

"If you ever need anything, just ask okay? Don't ever be afraid to ask, I'm always here." I stared into her blue eyes, searching for riddled lies in her words. Instead, they were filled with truth and hon

The poster filled walls, and the smell of fresh bleach taunted me as I slowly wondered down abandoned hallway. My fingers slowly trembled on the bar of the grey crutches. Whether it was from fear or exhaustion was clueless to me. I had five minutes before the demonized bell rung. My arms ached tirelessly, my right leg being no help. Eventually, I had found my way into my first period English classroom.

When the door opened, the teacher had looked up. He was sitting on the blue couch near his desk that was settled just a few feet left of me. Out of every place in school, this was definitely my favorite.

It was pretty small, probably about 20 feet across and 10 feet wide. All the desks connected to the chairs had been painted black and were lined up in rows. They were all facing a large rectangle platform that was raised. The back had a computers lined up on a raised desk along the whole back wall. Above the computers, were tons of posters and canvases to were you could barely see the wall. My favorite was a small hand painted one right behind my desk saying, "She kept crying, hoping for someone to save her from her own mind." They were all over. Right next to door though proved the teacher had a sense of humor. It was a poster from the ceiling to the floor with a close up picture of Donkey's face from Shrek. If he didn't show his rebellious side by clearly passing the legal amount of paper on the wall due to safety hazard, he fucking painted one of the walls blue. Along with this, beanbag chairs lined that whole wall with carpet underneath them all. Best thing about it all? Fairy lights. He refused to keep all the light on. Only one in the back, the rest lit up from the lights scattered along the top of the Smartboard and tacked to the wall and ceiling.
