Betty and Veronica walked through the forest, both fearing the worst.

The rain was pouring now, and they were soaking wet and freezing. Betty's teeth were chatting and Veronica was complaining about how her hair was wet.

As the two girls walked in circles huddled close for warmth there was that sound again.

A gunshot.

But, the only thing was that it sounded closer to them than before.

Veronica started reciting the Our Father prayer as Betty looked closer into the shadows of the night.

There was a figure standing there.

Soon enough Veronica noticed it too.

And they both did the only thing they could think of.

They ran.

They ran until their lungs were in aching pain, they ran until all their bones felt like they were going to break.

Eventually, Betty tripped on a root, hurting her foot.

Veronica tried to help her up quickly looking like the figure was coming towards them, and with a throbbing pain in her leg, Betty still ran.

The Latina pulled Betty and herself behind a tree, hiding from the mysterious figue.

They both could hear footsteps, and Betty got her pepper-spray out.

The footsteps were closer to them, and the two girls held their breaths.

Betty glanced to their right to see someone right near them, afraid that they might attack she did the unthinkable.

Screaming, Betty sprayed her pepper-spray in the person's face until they hit the ground and were screaming in pain.

Then, they gasped at who it was.

Jughead.

"Juggie!" Betty said kneeling down and Veronica looked to the side to see Archie laughing his ass off.

Veronica hit Archie's arm "we thought you guys were going to kill us!"

Archie tried to control his laughter "we...were worried...about you two, he was the one who convinced me to get out of the warm house."

"Nice to know you care about being warm then us" she replied making Archie frown.

Veronica away from him to see a concerned Betty trying to help Jughead with watering eyes. But he seemed okay for some who had just gotten pepper-sprayed.

"Guys, really I'm okay," he said after Veronica and Betty helped Jughead to his feet successfully.

"Fine by me," Veronica said letting go of him "why would you bring a gun into the woods anyway? Did you think someone was going to kill you guys?"

Archie narrowed his eyebrows "a gun? What do you mean?"

"V and I heard a gunshot," Betty said still clutching to Jughead and Veronica noticed that she was still shaking from the cold "it was you guys, right?"

"No, we didn't bring a gun," Jughead told them.

Both of the girls' heartbeats started pounding again.

"Wait, so you guys heard a gunshot? Are you sure? It could've been someone cutting down a tree" Archie said.

"Who would cut down a tree at eight o'clock at night?!" Veronica asked.

"Um, it's actually nine" Archie corrected her as she rolled her eyes in reply.

"Shouldn't we start heading back?" Jughead asked.

"Oh no, I'm not going back there" Veronica stated.

"It's not that bad, is it?" Archie asked.

"It doesn't matter, I'm not going back. No questions asked" she argued.

While Archie and Veronica bickered back and forth Betty let go of Jughead sitting down against a tree, trying to decode where that gunshot could've come from and try and stop her teeth from chattering.

Jughead sat next to her "how much do you want to bet we'll be stuck out here all night?"

Betty smiled, but instead, her teeth took it as another time to chatter violently. She wrapped her arms around herself even though she didn't feel any warmer.

"Here," Jughead said taking off his jacket and putting it on her. Betty blushed, feeling her hand be entwined with hers.

"T-thanks, and I'm r-really sorry about earlier" she managed to say.

Jughead chuckled "it's fine, it was kind of funny, to be honest. And now I can cross getting pepper-sprayed by my girlfriend off my bucket list."

Betty giggled resting her head on his shoulder, both of them forgetting that Archie and Veronica were even there.

Veronica looked at the two of them amidst Archie and hers argument and saw how happy they looked. She had felt happy with Cheryl.

But it had all been a lie.

"They really love each other huh" Archie said, "I'm happy they found each other, aren't you?"

Veronica blinked, not hearing a single word he had just said: "yeah, totally."

She decided not to ask him if he remembered sleeping with Cheryl, she wasn't ready to start talking about it again.

"So, do you want to sleep out here in the cold or come back to the cabin?" Archie said changing the subject and looking at her harshly.

I had no idea how to end this chapter so yeah...

Sorry if it sucked
