Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why oh why cant I
Someday I'll wish apon a star and when I wake the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops way above the chimney tops
That's were you'll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow
Sky's are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true
If happy little blue birds fly
Why oh why cant I
Why, why cant I?
I sit outside singing. This song is my wish. I hope to go over the rainbow away from this place. Avi comes and sits with me. We sing Take on Me. Kevin joins us. All we've been able to do is sing. It's a good time passer. We eat breakfast and head out. Every day for the past week since Scott and Mitch left we have been going out looking for a car or somesort of ride out of here. Rain starts, but we don't care. Thunder roars, and I hug Avi.
"Why don't talk go back home while I keep looking. Whatever I find, I'll bring back." Kevin suggests.
"We are not leaving you Kevin. I already lost my sister, I'm not letting you go." Avi sounds desperate.
"If you find anything that can only get you out of there, take it. We will meet up in Atlanta, Georgia like we said. We need to all get out of here, no matter how." I say. They look surprised at first, but eventually nod their heads in agreement. Avi and I turn and go, leaving Kevin to keep on searching. He's going in a direction we've never been in yet, so hopefully he'll get something. Another clap of thunder. I yelp like a scared puppy and take off towards the shelter. I don't stop untill I'm on the couch bed. Avi hands me a granola bar and I gladly take it. I'm hungry. I look at my watch that is always on my wrist and find that is 12:00 pm already. Avi gets on the other couch and we fall asleep.Kevin POV Didn't see that coming :)
As Avi and Kirstie leave, I keep marching on. I WILL find us a way out of here. I walk for hours, and when I'm about to turn around and head back, I hear something.
"Do you want a ride?" I see someone with a car packed full of people.
"We have room for one more! Come on!" Remembering what Kirstie said, I ran and hopped into the car. I was going to find Mitch and Scott, and later, Kirstie and Avi. I hope they don't think I got hurt, but I have a feeling that Kirstie will know. She always does.Back to regular Kirstie POV.
I sing Misbehavin'. Its such a carefree song. I feel like all I can do is sing. There is nothing else I can do. I can tell it's morning, I do have a watch and it says that it's 7:00 am. I slept for, like 19 hours. I guess I'm just mentally and emotionally drained. I can see ominous dark clouds in the distance, and I know that I won't be safe for long. Kevin has been gone for 7 hours, and I know that he found a way out of here. I just, know. I feel like I've gotten rid of my fear of thunder in all of this. Now, that fear is overpowered by the will to survive. Gosh, this place looks like a wasteland. I stop singing in the middle of the song. I sigh.
"We'll get out of here, I promise."
"Promise Avi?" He better keep it.
"I promise Kirst." He sits down next to me. He follows my gaze to the upcoming storm.
"We'll even make it through that." He reasures me. I feel wetness on my foot. I look down and find a puddle of water going under the shed. I stand up and go to the back of the shed, just to find water all along there.
"The floods are back. Run." I yell to Avi as I take off towards the hazardous city. I look back as we jog in the direction of the city. I realize that is the direction to the ocean. I freeze.
"A-avi?" I manage to get out.
"What is it Kir-" His eyes grow wide as he takes my hand and we run faster than ever before.
Realizing that there might still be people, when we reach the city, I scream a warning.
"TSUNAMI!!! RUN FOR YOUR LIFE THERE IS A TSUNAMI COMING!!!" We see three people that look like ants because they are so far away run as fast as they can to a car. They drive off.
"Avi, we don't have a car." I ask with worry.
He thinks for a moment."We should go to a very high building. That way we will be safe, the tsunami will have lost a lot of power."
"What about the storm?" I point to what looks like a portal to the underworld. Yeah, that storm looks that bad.
"We'll make it." He grabs my hand and we run to the tallest safe looking building we can find. We run up to the highest level that's not the roof. We find a collum that is apart of the foundation, and we cling to it. I start crying.
"I don't want to die Avi!!" I cry into his chest. He hugs me.
"Don't worry Kirstie. I'm not going to lose you. We've only got each other. I'm not leaving this place without you." The walls shake. I run to a window and see that the storm is above us. I run to a window opposite of that and see a giant flood of water rush towards us. I run back to Avi and hug him and the collum. We brace our selves for impact. I hear the rain pounding on the roof harder than I thought rain could. I heard the loudest bangs of thunder and the brightest flashes of lightning. Then I felt cold, wet, alone...Aren't cliffhangers the best. Don't kill me for getting rid of everyone but Avi and Kirstie, they're kind of the main characters. I've got so many ideas, be ready for a chapter 30 in a month or two I hope :)
