The one thing that no one told you about living alone, was how lonely it could get. During the day, you are busy at your job, but in the evening, you can't help but be aware of how empty your apartment seems.

Tonight, you are sitting on your apartment's balcony, watching the sunset. Picking up your book, you are just about to head inside, when a soft thud of paws is heard on the balcony. You pause and slowly turn around to see a fluffy gray cat watching you with curious eyes.

"Hello," you say breathlessly, hoping that the cat wouldn't leave. He doesn't and you creep forward. Reaching out a hand, you let the cat sniff it, and when it made no protests, you scratch its ears.

After a while, the cat curls up on your lap, refusing to leave. You grin and give it a little hug. Finally, you've found a friend.

A few months later

You pour yourself a cup of tea and grab the pack of cat treats from your cupboard. Your small friend, who you had dubbed Sebastian, arrives on your balcony every night at seven. He leaves in the early hours of the morning when you are asleep.

Walking out, you sit on the ground and wait. Pretty soon, you hear the familiar sound of Sebastian's mew.

Turning around, you smile when you see the little cat. "Why hello there Seb-"

Your sentence ends abruptly when you hear the sound of someone climbing the ladder to your balcony. Frozen in place, you can only stare as a metal arm reaches up and grabs the railing. A man soon appears and swings himself over onto the ground, only five feet from where you are sitting. He bends to pick up the cat, and then realizes someone else is there also. Lifting his head, the stranger finally catches sight of you.

You do the only thing that any girl would do after seeing a strange man climb onto their balcony. You scream.

"Wait! No, I'm just, uh....it's my cat! He was, like, I didn't know, disappearing at night, so I, um, followed him to see where he was going, and he climbed up here, so I climbed up too, and you were here, but, yeah....I swear I won't hurt you!" He stammers.

You look at him suspiciously. "That's your cat?"

"Yeah. His name is Arrow."

"Arrow?"

"Uh, a friend of mine named him."

You finally smile, making the stranger relax. Holding out your hand, you introduce yourself.

"I'm Y/N."

He takes your hand cautiously. "Bucky."

You hold out the pack of kitty treats. "May I?"

"Only if I can feed him one."

A month later

You stroke Arrow, who is laying on your chest as you read a book. Your phone alerts you to a text massage. Picking up the phone, you see it is from Bucky.

Bucky: Can I have my cat back?

Y/N: No.

Bucky: Please?

Y/N: Come and get him.

Bucky: I'll be over in five.

Y/N: Use the door this time.

Bucky: No promises.
