maddie and i walk into the gymnasium, side by side. looking into the crowd i try to find brynn and lauren as we always sit together at every game. i suddenly see waving hands that belong to the girls. i smile knowing that they are excited to see me. "maddie, i'm going to lauren and brynn. catch you later." i kiss her on the cheek.

"get your boy back!" she shouts as i start to walk away. i turn my head and bring my pointer finger to my lips, telling her to be quiet. i race up the stairs of the gymnasium to the row of seats that brynn and lauren are sitting on. after saying many "excuse me's" and "sorry's" i make it to the seat that the girls saved for me.

"hey girl." brynn says smiling cheerfully.

"hey," i smile, sitting beside lauren, who sits in silence. "hello, lauren?" i wave my hand in front of her face. she shakes her head out of her daydream.

"what?" she looks confused. "oh hey, kenz." she softly smiles, looking down at her hands.

"are you okay, lauren?" brynn asks, turning her body towards her.

"y-yeah," she stutters. "just nervous for johnny." she smiles.

"okay." brynn says, turning around looking at me weirdly. lauren head whips up causing me and brynn to look up. my eyes land on johnny waving his hand signaling lauren to come to him. lauren gets up from her chair grabbing her purse from the floor.

"be right back guys." she softly smiles, before rushing down the stairs over to johnny. mine and brynn's eyes don't leave lauren until we can't see her any longer. i look over to brynn, to see a confused look on her face.

"what was that?" brynn questions me, scrunching her eyebrows together.

"be right back guys." i plaster a fake smile on my face before rushing down the gymnasium stairs rushing over to were johnny was standing. "what do you want!" i whisper-shout.

"has kenz said anything?" he taps his foot impatiently waiting for an answer.

"no," i look everywhere but his eyes. "i was listening to her, i was zoned out." i fold my arms.

"lauren!" he whispers. "you're meant to be listening to see if she says anything!"

"well she could be saying something right now, but you called me over here!" i state the truth.

"true," he mutters. "well go then!" he shoves me. "i've got a game to play." he says walking back into the changing rooms. i roll my eyes and walk back to my seat. i chuck my purse onto the floor next to my seat and flop onto my seat. kenzie and brynn raise their eyebrows while looking at me.

"what happened?" kenzie laughs.

"johnny was being annoying." i roll my eyes and huff.

"okay." they both mutter, sinking back into their seats.
