her.
that's all that's in my mind.
she's engraved in my mind and i already know i'm going to miss this shot i'm about to shoot. oh and look at that, gone. missed it.
i stomp off the court ignoring every word my coach is saying to me. i walk down the corridor and slide down the wall, placing my head in my hands trying to process everything through my mind. until i hear a voice that i've missed so much.
"john." she stands there rubbing her arms. i've missed that face too much. she slowly walks over to me sliding down the wall next to me, placing her head on my shoulder. "i miss you." she mutters, just loud enough for me to hear. i lay my head on top of hers.
"i'm sorry." i say softly, not moving my head one inch.
"don't be sorry, i don't know what i was thinking," she replies, taking in a deep breath. i wrap my arm around her, pulling her closer to me.
"you don't know how much i missed you." i look at her.
"don't even get me started, orlando," she giggles. "this week has been the worst without you. even lauren has been quiet and she's never quiet." she states, laughing afterward.
"let's go for a walk." i stand up, reaching my hand out for her to grab. she places her hand into mine, i swiftly pick her up and she's standing on her feet. she softly smiles at me and before i know it her arms around my neck, enveloping me in a hug.
"i miss you too much, john." she mumbles into my shoulder.

"look a shooting star!" she shouts from the roof that we are currently laying on. i laugh at her childishness. "hey, don't laugh." she smacks my arm.
"ow." i sarcastically say.
"bullshit." she scoffs, laughing in the process.
"wanna stay over tonight?" i blurt out the question that was rotating through my head. she laughs at my awkwardness.
"john, i've stayed many times before no need to be awkward." she shakes her head in amusement. "i would love to." she giggles.
"let's head inside, it's getting cold." i shiver. we both quietly walk along the roof, trying to not wake anyone sleeping beneath our feet. i watch kenzie carefully tip-toe across the roof with a blanket wrapped around her figure.
i hold her hand as she slowly steps down the ladder onto the balcony, of course, me following just after her. i silently shut the balcony door, locking afterward. "let's hit the hay!" she shout-whispers, me chuckling.
we walk into my room, kenzie automatically going to her little drawer full of her own clothes that she had previously left here from other nights that she has slept over.
"i'll be in the bathroom," she whispers before she smiles and closes the bathroom door. this is my opportunity to get into the clothes that i sleep in. i rip my t-shirt off and place it in my washing basket. i quickly change my jeans into some comfy sleeping shorts. after that i rip my sheets off my bed and slide in, propping the sheets back over my body. while i wait for kenzie, i sit in my bed on my phone, the bright light lighting up my face.
the door silently creaks open to reveal a kenzie in a very over-sized t-shirt with her clothes that she was previously wearing bunched up in her arms. she quickly chucks them in the corner and jumps into my bed next to me. she snuggles into my chest getting comfy.
"goodnight john." she shuts her eyes.
"night kenz." i kiss the top of her head.
