Deep breaths. In and out. My chest is tight within my new uniform. It needs to be stretched a little before i feel comfortable wearing it. I'm stood waiting for Director Fury in an unfamiliar room. I haven't been to the headquarters before, I wasn't ever allowed to go with the team. Elijah comes here often and so does Jess now. I felt lonely at home by myself but now that i'm here I want to go home. A lump sits in my throat with a feeling of unease, I'm not comfortable just standing here at all. Then I hear a cough from behind me, I turn sharply to see the man himself stood there. "Your brother raves about you. The boy never shuts up." Fury says, walking over and sitting in a chair. "Even your father talks fondly of you. As does the team but that doesn't mean I'm going to trust you." At this point I had realised I had stopped breathing and took in a sharp breath, nodding quickly. "I understand. Trust has to be earn't." Fury nods in agreement. "I'm glad you agree. Now I know you're a smart girl. You know about your brother." I nod slightly, looking down at my thumbs while I twirl them. "He didn't want to tell me but I just happened to over hear some of the stuff. Are you able to tell me?" I ask, hopeful in that he will share the missions details, but he shakes his head. "I cannot." I watch him rise from his seat and key in a few things on the computer. "I'm going to print you some files. I want you to look through them and sort them for me. " I sigh and nod, can't really argue with him on the first day. I would much rather be out on a mission but i know it wont happen for a while. "I won't be gone long. Wait here until I'm back." he leaves hastily and leaves me staring at the computer. I wait at least a minute before pulling up to the computer and closing my eyes. I replay the last 3 minutes in my head quickly and reopen them. Quickly typing in the password that I could remember. My eyes glance quickly towards the door before I pull up the Intel of the computer and work on hacking into the files. I didn't know the code for that but I knew how to do this. My fingers move quickly with the codes I type in, the screen comes up with a confirmation as i gain access to the files I wanted. I see the file marked 'STARK, E' and send it to my computer at home. I hadn't heard the footsteps that had walked into the room, I glance up again doing a double take "shit." I mutter under my breath. Fury was stood there looking unphased by what was going on. "Natasha warned me about this. She said your skills in hacking had improved greatly. I just didn't believe it. " I'm unsure of what to say, I knew I had blew my chance of working here already and that my dad is going to be pissed. "Come with me." He adds, I swallow back the hard lump that has returned and follow him out. It's a silent walk that I expected to lead to an exit but instead I'm taking to a control room. It's full of people all of which give me a quick glance. Fury takes me to a computer and sits me down. "show me how you got into our system." I look at him, thinking It's some sort of joke but he is dead serious. I turn my attention back to the computer and quickly begin typing, within seconds I'm in the system. Fury frowns. "Are you capable of hacking into your dads system without Jarvis notifying him?" he asks, obviously curious as to what I can do. I nod slowly and speak in a hushed voice. "But it takes me a little longer to do, Jarvis is quite complex but I do know how to work round him." I catch a slight smirk from the corner of his mouth. "good. I want you to start straight away. With these." he plonks down a bunch of files onto the desk beside me. "It's information regarding your brothers mission. Read up on it, I want you to find out what they want with us and what they wanted with him." I nod quickly and smile to myself, digging into the file that is beside me. I never knew it was going to be this easy.
An hour passes and I am still reading the files. I'm struggling to read the detail that has been put into it. 'Three long scars stretch out down the length of his back caused by a lashing.' That lump has came back again. 'Elijah sustained a hammer to his fingers, due to his fast healing rate they continued this for hours' It's getting painful to read now but I have to continue. 'Elijah put up with this torture for two weeks due to the lack of communication he gave his kidnappers. He did not speak a word but did suffer greatly, this included; humiliation, breaking of bones, skin tearing, scarring and burns all over his body and the removal of his right leg by hand saw. It has been replaced with a life like prosthetic which works with his enhancements. ' By this point I was in tears. My big brother, my strong big brother had gone through so much yet was still able to greet me while his usual smile and hug. The files go on to say after the two weeks of torture, Jess finally got a hold of him and got him out of there, sustaining multiple injuries herself but none that couldn't be healed. I place the folder down and wipe away the tears that had fallen. My teeth were grinding together, I'm infuriated by what I've found out.
I turn my attention towards the computer and get to work on finding out exactly what they wanted. They won't get away with what they have done. I need to do this for my brother, it sickens me knowing he is all okay with this. He should be kept off field now instead of wanting to jump back in which is what he has asked to do. Their firewall didn't keep me going for long as I was able to get though in a record time. Once I knew that I was safe, I get to work on finding out the information needed. But it will take me a while.
