"Hey, Maya, right?" Grayson approached me nervously at my locker.

"Yup. What's up, Grayson?" His feet shuffled, and wouldn't meet my eyes.

"I know it's kind of awkward between us because, well, the reason we know each other is that we're singing a love song, but I was hoping we could get in some extra practice and maybe get to know each other?" I held back a giggle and smiled at him. It's really nice that he wants to make this situation simpler.

"That sounds great! What did you have in mind?" He looked up, staring into my eyes. He was clearly surprised at my agreement.

"I dunno... maybe we could meet in a practice room after school or something?" He was maintaining eye contact. I think it's the first time I'd truly seen his face. He had beautiful green eyes, they seemed to hold an enchanted forest. His tousled, dark brown hair was in messy curls that were sticking all over the place. He had a sort of... Harry Potter look to him.

"Sure. We can talk to Mr. Robinski after class today." I closed my locker and Molly came bouncing up in her usual preppy manner.

"What's going on?" She curiously eyed Grayson, and I saw him shrink into himself.

"Extra practice plans," I explained quickly, turning back to Grayson. Or, at least where he was.

"Where'd he go?" Molly questioned.

"I don't know. He probably just saw a teacher he needed to talk to." I pretended to shrug it off, but I had a feeling Molly's outgoing attitude was the cause of his disappearance and sudden discomfort. Molly is what my dad would call an acquired taste. Mom still doesn't like her. Big surprise there, seeing as she doesn't like anything that involves me. When I told her I got Belle she rolled her eyes and shrugged. Dad loves hanging out with us though, it's kind of funny. When show tunes come on the radio he will (try) to belt them with us.

"You all good?" I realized I'd been staring at nothing for about two minutes.

"Yup. Just fine. You're just full of questions today aren't you?" I turned to look at her. She wasn't wearing any makeup, which was unusual for Mol, and she looked like she didn't get an abundance of sleep last night.

"I guess," she nodded. "I'm just trying to keep my mind off of-" she stopped talking and I saw Riley walking by with a bunch of other jocks surrounding him out of the corner of my eye.

Seeing Molly's heartbroken expression was too much for me, and I walked up to the bunch of boys. "Hey, Riley!" I looked straight at him with mock cheerfulness.

"Hey, Maya. What's up?" He looked around nervously. Good. He should be nervous.

"How's your relationship with Molly right now?" I don't think his friends know about his new status.

"Don't you already know?" He hissed in an attempt to threaten me.

"Well of course. I just want to know what your soulmate did, the girl you are destined to be with, to get you to break up with her?" My voice rose to catch the attention of everyone in the hall.

"Wait, what?" Owen squinted at Riley in disbelief. "Your relationship was almost as perfect as Tanner and I, and you broke up with Mol? What the hell were you thinking?"

"Owen, that's the thing. He clearly wasn't." A smug look crossed Molly's face reluctantly.

"He's never thinking. In fact-" Riley gasped.

"You wouldn't! We will still end up together! You don't want to be the girl who ruined her soulmate's reputation do you?" A look of real fear crossed his face. What does Molly have on him?
