Chemistry went by aggravatingly slow. The teacher, Mrs. Crimbley, slurred her words and extended every syllable.
The class was somewhat large, full of twenty people or so.
A blonde girl named Kathy sat in front of me—I never liked Kathy. She was a snob that always tried to flirt with Tyler whenever she saw us together outside of school.
For her immense interest in Tyler, she didn't even seem to notice... or care that he was gone.
The bell rang. The students stood up. Mrs. Crimbley passed our study guides for the upcoming test the next week. I stood up when everyone was gone, like I usually did.
Mrs. Crimbley didn't meet my eyes when she gave me my study guide; she usually did. She just sighed and turned back to her desk, preparing for her next class.
The hallway buzzed with gossip and rumbled with footsteps.
I stared at the checkered floor as my floral vans padded along as I walked. Tyler bought those shoes for me on my seventeenth birthday, so we could match.
People still stared at me.
Tyler had been gone for exactly one month.
Nobody cared.
Nobody cared but me.
And his family.
And Josh.
