He left me go up the ladder first.

It was kinda scary, but he assured me it was safe.

I sat in the floor, legs crossed while he climbed up himself.

The tips of his hair was the first thing I saw, then his smiling face.

It wasn't until he was inside that I looked around.

A blue and red checkered quilt was on the floor, along with a pile of comic books and vinyls. A few posters of rock bands were on the walls, and in the corner there was a small battery  powered record player. And in the middle of the quilt, was a plate of sandwiches.

"Sorry it's not very fancy, but I thought I'd be something new," he helped me stand up before grabbing a vinyl and putting it on the record player.

It hummed for a second before light rock and roll music lilted through air.

"What was in those sandwiches," I laughed as I fell over onto my back. It seemed as though a film of joy had been placed over my brain.

"Um, turkey, mayo, lettuce, you know. The usual," he smiled before laying down beside me. "Oh—and a little bit of love."

"Well, maybe I'm high on something else," I ran my hands over my face before tucking them under my head. I looked over at him, his face right next to mine.

"Cross my heart, I did not put edibles in those, I swear," he turned to meet my eyes.

"Whatever you say, Tyler," I winked at him.
