Sleep feel over me faster than normal. Almost as if my body was not terrified of starting a new day.

My door creaked.

I was awake. But my eyes stayed closed.

Footsteps approached at a steady, steady pace.

The floorboards creaked and there was a slight intake of breath--as if this intruder was trying not to wake me, but clearly, I already was.

I opened my right eye the tiniest bit. A lean figure was standing over me.

The figure bent down into the tiniest ray of moonlight slipping through the blinds.

Before even seeing his features, I knew it was him.

Before I could say anything, tears were streaming down my face. I was in his arms.

He softly whispered my name and kissed the top of my head.

I was sobbing now. He was too.

"Why didn't you call for me sooner," he mumbled into my hair.

The tears were too thick for me to speak. I just hugged him tighter.

He pulled back. His wet eyes met mine and a soft smile pulled at the corners of his mouth.

"Thea," he said multiple times. So many times I lost count.
