Dobengal didn't mind you leaving the booth early. If anything (after your little spat) he was more than happy to have some distance. He was busy being fawned over by junior high schoolers so your walk with Mard Geer barely mattered anymore.
You started thinking that after everything, maybe Dobengal was finally done trying to reason with you.
"How does it feel to be a runner up, my queen?" He asks, walking at your side while you two explore the other booths.
He was really trying to make conversation, but you were focusing on the mini games set up around you. You desperately wanted to try the one with the fish. You could barely take care of yourself, but if you had a fish, maybe you'd do a better job with extra responsibility.
"(Y/N)?"
You shook away the fishy thoughts and gave your full attention to Mard. "Sorry, just spacing out a bit."
He offers a soft smile and places his hand on your lower back. "No problem. Why don't we go get something to eat?"
The more you walked the more awkward the air between the two of you became. You weren't sure if it was the memory of the coconut battle, but just the though of Mard you made you nervous and not in a good way at all.
Unlike Sting, the nervousness you felt with Mard was worrying. You thought he was a nice guy and everything was okay. Perhaps it was the way Dobengal talked to you that put you off.
Before you two could explore more, you made up an excuse to go to the bathroom and stayed in there longer than you needed to. You stood at the sink splashing water on your face and went through strange breathing exercises. You didn't mind the girls filtering in and out. You were too focused on yourself and a way out off this stupid situation.
And that's when you got it -- a solution to all of this.
You figured you'd just crawl out of the girl's window in the bathroom. It was big enough and all you'd need to do was stand on the counter. It was like this room was made for students to ditch.
When you checked to make sure no one was around, you got up on the counter and shuffled your way over to the window. It was already open and everything so you could just get up and get through.
You took one last look before hoisting yourself up and getting your upper body through the opening. Thank jeezus you were on the first floor. You'd have pass out if you found you were on the second floor. It already looked like a eight foot drop -- why add an extra ten ya know?
You wiggle your way to a sitting position and slide your legs through. Now, all you had to do was land safely. You dropped your legs and hung there for a bit, debating whether or not to land on the flower bed at the bottom.
You decided to just go for it and let go yourself drop. You weren't met with a flower bed though, you were met with two arms and a warm chest.
"(Y/N) what the Hell is wrong with you?!" Your knight in shining armor that always seemed to be there for you. "Are you kidding me you could've gotten a broken leg or something!"
You practically burst out in tears. Of course he was here for you. The universe just begged the two of you to have all this tension. It made for good drama at least.
While being held in that awkward position with a guilty smile, you apologize and keep yourself from eye to eye contact. "I'm sorry."
He slowly sets you down and backs off. "Damn right you are. Why the Hell were you even up there?"
You look up and notice the difference in height from here to where you were. It definitely looked taller from where you were standing now. "I was um... " You laugh like it sounds normal, but it definitely didn't. "I was ditching Mard."
