Chapter 32: War-ter

Maui and Pua were digging in their food as if they did not eat for days. 

"You know, you guys have huge appetite after napping for few hours," Moana said as she swallowed her small piece of fish.

"I don't know why, but sleeping makes me hungry!" Maui said with his mouth half-full. Pua stuffed and rubbed his face against the bowl of berries and grains. Heihei, for the first time, pecked on the area where there were a lot of grains. 

"Looks like Drumsticks was very hungry," Maui said as he watched Heihei peck on the seeds.

"By the way, Maui, the island we're going to next has your name," Moana said. "It's really called 'Maui Island'."

"Well, my name would be pretty popular," Maui said. "Some people named their children after me, believe it or not."

"I believe that," Moana said. "They'd name their sons Maui when they grow up to be a trouble maker when they grow up." Pua spit his food out as it bursted into laughter. 

"Hey kid, not cool," Maui said.

"Just kidding~" Moana teased. "Geez, you're becoming as sensitive as I am."

"Hmph," Maui scoffed. He crossed his arms and faced the opposite side of the horizon. 

"Aww, baby Maui sulking again," Moana said. 

"I'm not, sulking, I'm angry," Maui replied in a sulking tone, then he sensed the danger coming.

"Uh-huh, yeah sure," Moana responded sarcastically. "You know you always sound like that when you start to sul-"

"Moana, stop talking," Maui said as he put his finger over her lips.

"Well, Maui, you should agree-" Moana said under Maui's finger.

"Shh! Be quiet! I mean it!" Maui said in more alert tone. Just by listening to his alert tone, Moana was able to realize that the danger was approaching them. Moana and Maui looked around the ocean. Pua quickly hid inside the storage, grabbing Heihei with him. Maui squinted his eyes to look far towards the horizon. Moana carefully looked under the water...

"RAAAAAAAWWWR!" The monster propelled out to the surface, almost toppling the ship. The monster looked like a coelacanth with six eyes each side of its body. Its fins were flipping so that it can fly and swim. 

"Oh..." Moana said as she looked at the monster. She flipped through the charms. Surely, this monster was the forbidden creature she needed to capture.

"That's the one, right?" Maui asked.

"It is," Moana said.

"Let's get this over with!" Maui said. "Lemme have the charm!" Maui said. She handed the charm to Maui. "I'll fly to it and slap this on him. CHEEEE-HOOO!" Maui yelped as he transformed into a giant hawk. He glided towards the coelacanth monster and aimed the charm at him with a successful smirk across his beak. The coelacanth monster shot out the laser from its eyes and shot Maui. Maui fell onto the water surface. Maui quickly jumped on the boat, transformed into a human, and coughed out water violently. "That was unexpected," Maui said as he panted.

"He has eyes everywhere! He can probably see us wherever we are!" Moana said. 

"Well then we aim for the eyes," Maui said, getting ready to strike.

"Maui, hold on," Moana stopped Maui before he flew off by himself. "I don't think it's wise to just attack it."

The coelacanth looking monster shot lasers at Moana and Maui. Moana and Maui slid to avoid the laser. When Moana looked back at the spot where there was laser, it did not seem to damage the boat at all. Wait a minute... laser only affects humans and animals... it does not seem to hurt plants or anything at all...
