Chapter 39: The Truth About the Creatures

Moana, Maui, Pua, and Heihei were heading to Motongu. Moana was not quite sure what would happen on that island. "I wonder what will happen in this island... the name itself does not sound safe," Moana said as she faced the sun, half of it hiding behind the horizon. "Island of illusion... or island with illusion... I wonder if everything will be all right and eventually save the creature..."

"Chief, we've done so many things," Maui said as he was lying on his left side, facing Moana, his head resting on his left hand, his right hand scratching his back, and his right leg scratching his left leg. "Slimy creatures, women that transformed into snakes, tentacle monsters, gas-y monsters that controlled Pugley and Drumsticks, a tree monster, aggressive rush and wave of monsters, a giant eel, enchantress that almost killed us, spirits that tricked us to feel the certain way, hot sunlight demon, cold butterfly, even hotter magma monsters... what else..."

"Wuruhi the wolf-man, Rangibi the magma demon, coelacanth-looking thing..." Moana listed.

"Anyways you know what I mean," Maui said. "We got through almost everything we thought of, or something we never expected to happen."

"But we never experienced illusions," Moana said. "They're not like monsters that had tricks. We knew how to fight them..."

"...or we figured out how to fight them," Maui interrupted.

"But it was easy to figure out how to capture them," Moana said.

"Easily," Maui repeated sarcastically.

"But how will we get through the illusions?" Moana asked.

I guess she's getting too excited that she is a bit nervous about getting this done... Maui thought and then crawled towards her. "Chief, listen to me," Maui said as he held her chin. "We've been through this together. No matter what difficulties we went through, we were able to figure out everything we can in order to save the creatures. Let's not worry about anything. Worrying only keeps us back from our goal. Even this one would be one of the most difficult one, we can still complete our mission. We, especially you, have been through a lot of difficulties. Nothing was able to stop you. What could possibly stop you from saving the world?"

Moana sat there and tried to process what Maui said. She was so confused as he did not really make sense to her, but she felt Maui trying to encourage her. "Thanks, Maui," Moana said with a smile. "I don't hear this from you every day."

"Now let's eat something to crush that concern in your stomach," Maui said as he stood up and reached the storage to pick up some fruits.

"Concern in my stomach...?" Moana asked herself. She was confused, but she decided to understand how Maui described it.

Maui brought her a mango and a banana. Moana peeled a banana, bit into it, slowly chewed it, swallowed, and somewhere in her stomach, felt a little bit of relief. She slowly started to understand what Maui was trying to tell her. She was starting to worry less as more food went into her stomach. "Any coconuts left?" Moana asked.

"Catch," Maui said as he grabbed one from the storage and tossed it to her. She tried to catch it, but the coconut projected on to her forehead and knocked her out of the boat and splash into the ocean.

"Oh! Who-whoa!" She groaned and welled as a coconut hit her in the head and fell into the ocean.

"Woops," Maui said as he headed towards the direction where Moana fell. The ocean lifted her above to Maui's eye level. Maui gave her his toothy grin as he waved, but Moana did not seem so pleased. She smacked him in the forehead, and then reflexed her smirk. The ocean then put her down gently on the boat. "Kid, not cool, smacking me in the forehead," Maui complained.
