Chapter 33: The Roar

It took the few more hours to get to the Maui island. The island looks more and more beautiful as they got closer and closer. Moana was amazed by the sight of Maui island. "Wow..." she breathed in amazement. "It's so beautiful... even from far away!"

"Me or the island?" Maui asked.

"The island..." Moana was totally mesmerized by the view of the island. Not only there was green, but there were other colors such as red, yellow, orange, and other bright colors. 

"You could've at least said 'both'," Maui sulked.

"Yeah, you're beautiful too, Maui," Moana complimented. Maui smirked. Pua shook his head. Heihei walked around. "But seriously, out of all islands I've visited, this is the most beautiful one I've seen from this distance."

"Well, we cannot judge an island by its shell," Maui said. "We're here to capture a monster, not on a vacation."

"That's true," Moana said. "I wonder what kind of monster awaits for us in that island."

They soon docked on the shore of Maui island. The sweet aroma of Hibiscus and Plumeria immediately rushed into Moana and Maui's nose. Moana inhaled the aroma even more. "Ahh... I never smelled anything like this!"

"Same here, kid... oh wow..." Maui was so impressed.

"Only if the smell permeated my skin forever," Moana said dreamily. Even Heihei liked the smell. He clucked as he walked towards the deeper inside of the island. Pua followed after Heihei. "Pua! Heihei! Wait for us!" Moana said as she chased after them. "You guys are much more excited than I am!" Pua, Heihei, and Moana went further into the island. Maui peacefully followed after them. 

Surely, further they went into the island, more visually stunning the island was. There were bunch of coconut trees, bushes of Hibiscus and Plumeria, nicely build huts and houses, neatly dressed people, and fresh and warm air. "This place is much better than Pararaiha!" Moana complimented in amazement as she put her fingers on her cheek in disbelief. "How can a place be so nice?!"

"Now both of you stop, we can't lose you!" Maui had no time to focus on the aesthetic view of the island as he was busy chasing after Pua and Heihei and hold them into his arms so that they wouldn't escape. When he finally caught both of them into his arms, his jaws dropped as the view of the island stunned his eyes. They were not able to believe that there would be such monsters in this island. 

After they calmed down, they decided to explore the island to see if there were any creatures that they needed to capture. "But this monster looks so much like Te Kā, where can this creature possibly be?" Moana asked as she examined the charm.

"Well, there's gotta be someplace where the creature is," Maui said.

"Hello," a stranger approached to them and greeted them. "I've never seen you two around here. Are you visitors?"

"Hello, I am Moana, chief of Motunui," Moana replied.

"And I am Maui, demigod of wind and sea," Maui replied.

"Oh, you two are the ones who restored Te Fiti's heart!" the stranger said. 

"Well, the words are spread everywhere!" Maui said.

"Of course, you saved our island!" the stranger replied. "After Te Fiti's heart was restored, the grass started to sprout, trees started to grow, and flowers started to bloom! Thanks to you, our island is now again a livable place!"

"By the way, what is your name?" Moana asked.

"Oh, how rude of me, my name is Nana," Nana introduced. "I am a daughter of the chief of Maui island. I am in charge of taking care of environment of this island."
