Chapter 37: Changing Plans

A/N: Forgive me, I had major writer's block, anxiety by finals, and all those things that every university students go through.

When Maui went back under water, he saw no signs of the octopus. It must've swam away... Maui thought as he groaned. He looked everywhere in the ocean. He did not catch even a glimpse of any silhouette of an octopus, or any sea creatures with tentacles. Darn it! If I was fast enough!

"Here you go, cheer up," Moana said as she handed a cloth to help a woman calm down after being devastated by her destroyed home.

"Th-thank yo-ou," the woman blubbered as she took the cloth.

As soon as she paid enough attention to other people, she took a look at the map again. "Oh what...?" Moana asked herself, confused, as she saw the mark on the creature moving away from the island. "Oh no... Maui is gonna have a hard time." As soon as she finished her sentence, she saw the mark of the monster coming back to the island. She felt danger approaching and grabbed her oar.

"Is something wrong?" Kumu asked.

"Let's gather people and move them to the safer place," Moana said as she stayed on guard and prepared for danger. Pua stayed behind her with fear. Heihei stayed behind Pua mindlessly.

"Everyone, let's move," Kumu ordered people. Every villagers helped each other stand up and gather around. "Which direction should we evacuate to?" Moana pointed towards her left, where she believed was safe. Kumu quickly yet calmly let people towards the direction where Moana pointed.

She saw something rise up from the ocean. I knew it! Moana thought. She grabbed Pua, Heihei, and her oar, and quickly shifted towards her left.

Surely, the tentacles thrusted through the land with a large crashing sound. Villagers screamed in horror as Kumu tried to calm them down. Moana made sure that no one was hurt and struck the tentacle as hard as she could. Normally, when the tentacle is hit, they would squirm in pain. Why would they break...? Moana wondered as she kept attacking the tentacle. The suction cups shattered into pieces.

"RAAAH!!" Moana's attention turned to Kumu, who had a large stone mallet and attacked the tentacles. "Try using this!" Kumu suggested as he tossed the stone axe to Moana.

"Thank you!" Moana said as she caught it with her right hand. With the size and the weight of the stone axe, Moana was able to swing it much faster and stronger. When she got rid of almost all the suction cups and reached the tentacle that was near the beach, she was able to see something on the tentacle. Something small. Yellow circle with a red dot in a center and a purple dot in a center of the red dot. She struck that spot as strong as she could. It started to squirm aggressively. Even though it was muffled, she was able to hear it scream in pain through the tides.

When Maui reached the octopus creature, he slapped the charm on the suction cups, but it did not work. Wait, what...? Maui was confused. It was definitely this creature that was marked on the seal. Then it started squirming its tentacles back and forth violently, because Moana just attacked its pressure point on its tentacle, that one of it slapped him in the face.

He quickly went up to the surface and  sat on the beach to rub his face slightly to ease the stinging pain.

"Maui!" Moana said as she ran up to him.

"That one got me in the face good!" Maui complained.

"Listen, Maui," Moana started. "I think I just attacked its pressure point or something. It was a yellow circle with a red dot in a center, and a purple dot in a center of the red dot. It seemed to be in great pain when I struck it."
