Chapter 38: Changing Fate

A/N: Sorry for the long wait! Also, I made some adjustment in the previous chapters and will continue to do so, so that it sounds more interesting. If you get a chance, feel free to look over!

Moana looked around with the oar in her hand to see if anything on the island looked similar to any of the islands that were still occupied by the creatures. But she did not see any resemblance. "Only if the map also showed where we are..." Moana said under her breath desperately.

"How did we end up here in the first place...?" Maui asked. "You said there was a tornado, right?"

When Maui mentioned the word 'tornado', Moana's head reminded her the nightmare she had where Motunui was being destroyed by some creatures. "No, NOO!" Moana screamed in fear and stress. "No... no..." she whimpered. What if the dream is true? What if something did happen to Motunui without even me realizing it?!

"Kid? What's wrong?" Maui asked, flustered.

"I remembered a bad dream I had..." Moana said. "Motunui was being destroyed... oh, Maui, what are we gonna do?"

"Now, Moana, calm down," Maui shushed as he calmed her down by embracing her. "Nothing would've happened to Motunui. We got the creature, and the other creatures have no way to reach the island. Plus, on the map, it doesn't say that any monster is on Motunui. Everything is all right."

Moana, now calm, stood up. "Thanks, Maui," Moana thanked.

"You're welcome," Maui said with a heart-warming smile across his face. "Now, let's figure out what's going on, shall we?" Maui suggested. Moana nodded.

As they walked around, Maui noticed a large cave. Before Maui can either walk or away, or enter, or even do something, the cave inhaled them in a speed of light. After that, Maui lost conscious.

While Moana was still searching, she said to Maui, who wasn't there, without turning her head, "Maui, I have been theorizing, maybe we weren't sent away that far. After all, it was just a small tornado. It wouldn't have sent us anywhere so far from where we left off. Also, according to the map, there are three pointy peaks, unlike other islands. I think I'm starting to see it over there." Moana pointed at the three pointy peaks. "I wonder what that stone mountain is from the above. Maui?" She finally turned back. Maui wasn't there. "Maui?! Where are you?! This isn't funny! Maui!"

When Maui woke up, he did not see anything. He waved his hand in front of him. Am I blind...? Maui thought to himself. But then, he saw few sparks of light floating around. "I guess I'm not," Maui said to himself. However, he wondered what those sparks were. It looked like little fireflies he used to see at Motunui whenever it turned dark. "I need to see better..." Maui said as he lit up his fishhook. However, the only thing he was able to see was the pattern on his fishhook. "Moana...?" He called. "Moana?!" He called louder, only to hear an echo back.

Maui has completely lost in contact with Moana. He looked for her everywhere as he transformed into a giant hawk, not knowing that he was in completely different place. However, even with his birds-eye vision, he did not seem to find her anywhere. Stupid cave... Maui thought. I just have to fly around and get used to seeing in the dark... he thought as he flew around, but he ended up bumping into the bumpy, rocky, and sturdy walls and hurt his head. "Ow..." Maui groaned as he rubbed his head to relieve the pain.

Then he remembered the fireflies flying around. He decided to follow it. When he followed the firefly-looking things, they seemed to go in a direction where there is an open space. As long as I can get to somewhere else... Maui thought.

Moana realized that Maui's footsteps were gone from far back. She followed the trail of her own footprint, until she saw Maui's footprints. She looked around to see where Maui have went that the footprints would stop right there on that spot. When she laid her vision on the cave, the cave immediately sucked her in and made her land on the same spot where Maui first landed. She plopped down with a slight groan.
