Tiffany Wilson was just your ordinary girl with secrets she thought were best left unknown. Her life so far had been quite worthy, except for things that had occurred in her past. Just recently she had started on her Master's Degree and volunteered down at the pound during the week when she had time. Tiffany breathed out a sigh as she put a hand through her long golden red hair and sighed as she looked at her reflection in the small mirror she usually carried in her purse. For such a normal girl, she did have pretty strange features. Like her emerald eyes for one. When she was a kid, she would always be picked on because of her red hair, emerald eyes and flawless white skin. A whining sounded from in front of her, indicating her German shepherd was most certainly impatient. She continued to walk her dog towards Central park with so much on her mind. Work and school were beginning to become just way too much and her job paid her too little. It was her dream to become a Veterinarian, but at the moment that only seemed like a dream that wasn’t within her grasp. Looking up at the stars that were scattered throughout the night sky, she groaned. Suddenly her German shepherd came to a halt and looked up at her, worry in her brown eyes. Tiffany smiled down at her dog, Melody. Melody was a wonderful and loyal dog that went where ever Tiffany went. Melody slightly whined and then barked at her, telling her to cheer up and not to worry so much.
"I know, I know." Tiffany sighed.
Tiffany wasn't like others, truthfully, she was quite connected to animals. She could communicate through thoughts and feelings. Right now, she could feel Melody's sadness and her need to sooth her owner. She smiled warmly and patted the German shepherd on the head, trying to assure her everything was OK. Tiffany continued on with walking Melody through the park. Glancing up, she noted the moon was full and bright in the night sky. She loved going out venturing late at night so that she could gaze up at the night sky; surprisingly, the stars were more bright than usual. Tiffany came up to an ice cream shop which was preparing to close for the night. Melody's tail began to wag with anticipation.
"You want some?" Tiffany asked with a smile.
Through their mental connection, Melody answered with a Yes! Tiffany chuckled and led Melody to the ice cream shop. Tiffany didn’t have to guess what kind of ice cream Melody wanted, she already knew. Tiffany order a small Vanilla for Melody and a medium Chocolate and Vanilla swirl herself. Tiffany lowered the vanilla ice cream towards Melody and chuckled when she engulfed the entire thing into her mouth. After finishing their dessert for the night, they headed into the park. Manhattan was a wonderful place to live because when you had tons on your mind or you needed some time away from the city, you could come here to Central park. It was quite large and spectacular. Melody loved to run around in the open fields that the park provided. Tiffany led the way, Melody following along from behind. She felt relieved that she didn't need to put Melody on a leash, it always made her feel horrible and unsecured. Animals were meant to be free and happy to do as they pleased, sometimes. How wonderful would it be to be a dog, there were no worries in the world. You could sleep whenever you wanted and didn't have to worry about real life. No bills, no work, heck there wasn’t anything to worry about, not even relationships. They reached a lake and Melody ran out into the distance, leaving Tiffany alone in her thoughts. Tiffany found a bench in front of the lake and took a seat, breathing out a sigh. The lake glowed with life from the moonlight. It was a beautiful sight to behold. She rubbed her arms, suddenly feeling a chill. It was already spring and the chill that went bone deep made goosebumps appear on her skin. It was an odd feeling, but she ignored it as she glanced into the woods across the lake. A pair of yellow eyes glanced back her way from within the woods. This was strange, what the hell could be in those woods? Gulping down her fear, she stayed frozen on the bench, trying to decide what to do. Something was there, but what? Growling from behind her caught her attention; it was Melody. She stood her ground, baring her sharp teeth as if whatever was in the woods was a threat. Melody’s ears folded back, making Tiffany worry. Melody was never like this. That couldn't be a wolf, there hadn't been any wolves in America for a great time now. Tiffany frowned as she reached for her pepper spray with shaky hands, the only defense she had. She then sent out a mental thought to the creature, hoping to get some kind of information as to what it was.
