Tiffany waved goodbye to Marius as he rode away into the night. She walked into the apartment building and sighed as she dug her keys out of her purse. Before she stuck the key in the slot, the door slightly swung open. Frowning, she pushed the door open the rest of the way. She turned on her living room light and walked in cautiously. Where was Melody? She always waited up, even if Tiffany told her not to. Melody was the type who always stayed up and waited even if told not to do so. Something was wrong. Why was her door open and she needed to find Melody.
"Melody?" Tiffany searched the room, her frown deepening.
She began to grow frantic, searching everywhere Melody could possibly hide, but she had no luck. Under the table? No. The bed? No. Where could she be? Tiffany was on the verge of tears, not sure of what to do. Her eyes searched the area, scanning for something that may be a hint. That's when she spotted the letter. A single letter that made her heart nearly stop. With shaky fingers, she picked it up and read it. He took her, Victor Peters. The man whom has been on her tail since he found out about her gift. That bastard. In the letter it stated that he would only return her if she came willingly and alone. Victor was a vicious man who cared only for power. He thought that if he studied her, he could become rich and famous with letting the world know of her abilities. She knew she wasn't the only one with such abilities, there had to be others and she couldn't allow him to get his grimy fingers on them too. What should she do? She had no clue of what to do. The letter said that if she didn't show within 3 days, he would kill Melody. Damn it. Tiffany felt something click in her mind as she remembered something. Darius had given her his cellphone number, telling her if she had any problems, to give him a call. She could call him and tell him the situation. She knew she couldn't tell him the whole truth. If he knew what really was happening, what would he do? She honestly barely knew Darius, she had only meeting him today. She took a chance and dialed his cellphone. It rung for a moment and finally he answered.
"Hello?" His voice was deep and mesmerizing.
"Darius, this is Tiffany." She sounded as if she were about to fall apart, her voice was hoarse, as if she had cried out her lungs.
"What's wrong?" He asked in a worried tone.
She wasn't sure what she should say. "Please, meet me at the little coffee shop around the corner of your hospital tomorrow at noon."
"Sure, but are you ok?"
"I...I'm fine." She lied. "Just meet me then, please."
She hung up the phone and sighed, hanging her head low as she leaned against the table. She needed to decide on what to tell him and do so now. Tiffany got her things and decided that night to stay at a hotel, no longer feeling safe in her own home.
Darius frowned as he looked down at his cellphone after she hung up on her. What had happened? Should he go back and check it out? He put his cellphone back into the pocket of his jean pants and shook his head. He was confused as hell. Sighing he decided to go out and check on her, even if it was without her knowing. He rushed down the stairs of his two story house. His butler looked up at him.
"Sir, you going out again?" Francis asked.
"Ya, I will be back in a bit." He replied.
Darius went out the front double doors and decided he would go by foot. He would go in wolf form, a quicker and better way of travel for him. He was glad the moon wasn't full or he would have no power over the change and no memory in the morning either. He was also happy he was strong enough to will the change whenever he wished, only during those times did he still have control. Darius body began to contort, his bone and muscles reforming. Now where he had stood was a black wolf. He couldn't help but to howl up at the night sky, howl with joy. In the wolf's body, he felt free. He took off in a sprint, running across the grass and into the nearby central park. It was already past midnight, meaning everyone was in bed. Maybe not everyone actually since a lot of people liked to hit the clubs within the city. Exiting the park, he sprinted across the street and into an alley, making sure he was like a phantom. He couldn’t risk anyone seeing him, it would only cause problems. Darius finally came up to the front of the apartment building and frowned inwardly. She wasn't here. He could feel it, she had left. He sniffed the air and caught her scent. She had left not too long ago, but where? He followed the scent to a hotel a mile away. She was here, frightened. Something had scared her greatly. He wasn't sure what, but he wanted to know. Still in wolf form, he studied the area. A drizzle of rain had begun, the moon hidden behind a large thick cloud. Thunder rumbled in the distance, the storm still a great distance away. Something forced him to stay there, sitting in the front of the hotel watching with weary eyes. Usually he wouldn't stay in a place for too long in wolf form, yet he couldn't get himself to move. He glanced up at the second floor and immediately found her peeking out a window near the end of the building. She gazed down at him, directly at him, from the window. They seemed to stare at each other for a moment.
