The whole entire time Tiffany had felt depressed beyond belief. She didn't know it was possible for a person to feel so depressed, seriously. She sighed heavily as she made her way down into the dining room area. Tiffany looked the long dining table over, yet felt nothing but sadness. She still couldn’t believe he denied her, rejected her. She sat down at the table, unaware of Darius, who was seated right across from her. They spoke of nothing while his butler came in, putting their dinners right in front of them upon the table. Tiffany glanced down at the chopped up steak, mash potatoes and green beans. Francis then returned with a bowl of vegetable soup. Tiffany poked at the steak and frowned as she slumped in her seat. She couldn't help but to glance over in Darius's direction. A large rare steak sat on his plate, nearly covering the whole plate. He cut off a slice of steak and stuck it in his mouth, chewing it slowly. She gasped and looked away when he noticed her looking his way. She couldn't do this. This was too awkward.
"Your ability." He broke the awkward silence. "It works only on animals?"
She didn't dare look at him and nodded. She couldn't speak, her words were stuck in her throat. She wanted to say something, yet somehow couldn't.
"Do you believe in…other beings?" He asked carefully.
She tensed in her seat and without thought and looked up at him. Other beings? Where was this leading? Darius put down his silverware and sighed as he rested his elbows on the table and intertwined his fingers, staring at her, waiting for her answer.
"What…do you mean?" She finally forced the words out through clenched teeth, her voice trembling.
"Creatures of legend, of stories and folktales. Do you ever think they may be...real?" He asked.
She thought over his words carefully. She didn't know if she did, but somehow, deep down inside, she believed there was more to life. There was something more out there in the world.
"What kind of...creatures?" She wanted him to get to the point.
"Werewolves." He replied without a second thought.
Werewolves. She had heard some about them in movies and books, but didn't know much. Could they really be real? Images of the wolf came to mind. Could they be real? He wasn't fibbing her was he? She suddenly laughed out, a bit hysteric.
"How can they be real, they are of silly little stories, nothing more." She wiped the tear from her eyes as her laughter died suddenly.
Darius frowned, his dark brows drawn tightly together. He didn't seem to be very happy by her words. Tiffany stood up quickly and pushed away from the table. She couldn't stand looking at his handsome face anymore, she needed to get away from him.
"Where are you going? You haven't even touched your dinner." He stated.
She sighed and lowered her gaze to his, "I must get away from you and your silly beliefs."
She walked away and out the room into the living area. He rushed out after her and pulled her to him, his strength and speed too great for just a mere human. She turned to face him and frowned. Her eyes widened with shock as he swept down and connected his lips to hers. To quick, it was happening to quick. She started to push at the wall of his chest, yet couldn't break away. She finally stopped struggling and gave in, closing her eyes and kissing him back. She barely knew him and already she was falling for this man. How could love happen this fast? He thrust his hands into her thick red hair and drew her closer to him. She couldn't get enough of him, she wanted more, much more. Would he give himself to her? Or leave her once more to wonder why he rejected her? He finally pulled away, breathless.
