Kabanata XVI: RESISTANCE

Resistance.

TUNOG NG PAGSARA ng pinto ang gumising kay Levi nang umagang 'yon.

Hawak ang mabigat pa ring ulo, marahan siyang umupo at sumandal sa headboard ng kama. He looked at the curtains of his bedroom window. The windows were slightly open, allowing some sunlight to come in.

It's Saturday, and he doesn't have to work on site today. He won't be back until Monday, so he has plenty of time to recuperate before returning to work.

"You're finally awake."

Napakunot ang noo niya sa boses na 'yon. Mabilis niya itong nilingon.

"Good morning!" Keira greeted him with a smile. Her slightly messy and loose hair was in full view. She wasn't wearing any make-up. The mole next to her eye was even more noticeable, especially when the sun hits her pale face.

He moved away from leaning on the headboard and sat at the edge of the bed.

"Why are you still here?" he asked Keira coldly.

Keira gave him a warm smile. "How was your sleep? Are you feeling better?"

He immediately averted his gaze when Keira started stepping towards him. Keira's wearing one of his long-sleeved white polo shirts that reach only halfway down her thighs.

One wrong move...

He shut his eyes briefly.

Damn! He would see her underwear!

Napapitlag siya na parang napapaso nang maramdaman ang malambot na palad ng dalaga sa leeg niys

"W-What are you doing?" gulat niyang tanong at bahagyang napaatras. Masyado niyang pinagtuunan ang itsura nito kaya hindi niya namalayang nakalapit na pala ito sa kanya.

"Just checking your temperature," nakangiting sabi sa kanya ni Keira.

Hinawakan niya agad ang kamay nito at inilayo sa leeg niya. "I'm fine. Umuwi ka na. Baka hinahanap ka na sa inyo."

Keira raised an eyebrow. She stepped back and casually walked to the couch, then slumped there, combing her fingers through her hair.

Meanwhile, he quickly turned his face away!

He heard her annoyed sigh.

"How rude. Do I look so bad without makeup that you can't even look at me?"

"You should leave, Yturralde. I can handle myself," malamig niyang sagot sa dalaga.

Humarap siya dito, na hindi dapat niya ginawa! Nasilayan niya ang underwear nito nang gumalaw ito sa kinauupuan nito.

He gulped. It wasn't the first time he had seen her in her underwear, but damn, this woman was being careless! Memories from the past months suddenly flooded back to him, the night when he had lost control.

Damn it! He got a little hard. He's still a man, not some saint! This woman is such a tease and dangerous for mankind!

Keira's soft chuckles snapped him back to his senses.

"My parents will understand. Hindi na ko minor na kailangang ipaalam ko pa sa kanila lahat ng ginagawa ko."

Tumayo siya sa kama. "Ms. Yturralde, it doesn't matter if you're young or not. What matters is your respect for your parents."

Keira's smile disappeared. "Are you saying I don't respect my parents?"

"I didn't say that." Wala na siyang idinagdag. He pulled off his shirt, ignoring the way Keira's gaze lingered on him, on his body.
