This place is infecting me, isn't it?

" What's the plan, mistress?", asked a voice next to me, making me jump.

I had completely forgotten about Delindemin, who was now whole again. Not a lock of fiery red hair out of place, not a wrinkle on her dark mantle, she did not look like someone who had just been pulverized by an explosion. Apparently, magical undead regeneration powers extended to clothes as well. I, on the other hand, felt horrible, covered in dirt and in the overwhelming smell of a giant dead worm. A giant dead magical worm created by an evil overlord who had then sent his orc minions to check it out, just in time for them to kidnap a little fairy, who had been acting friendly but had previously tried to kill me. Also, both the fairy and the undead elf thought I was a necromancer.

Yep. After falling in another world my life had become weird.

" How did you hide from those filthy horrible creatures? Did you use your powers to become invisible?", she asked.

I watched her, trying to understand her logic. I gave up.

" I thought you could see what was happening when you were dust?"

" Yes, of course!"

" So... how did you not see me crawling out from under that beast?", I inquired incredulous.

There was a long moment of silence in which Delindemin contemplated the idea, and then she admitted:

" Well, that makes... sense?"

" Yes, it does, thank you! Now..."

" Of course you would not waste your powers for that.", she concluded, nodding.

" Right. Okay. Let's skip this part and get to the planning.", I sighed. Really, I was trying my best to avoid the unpleasant cliched situation where all these misunderstandings about who I really was came up at the worst possible moment, but the universe was conspiring against me. Or people here were just that stupid.

" Well, we can't go back to the forest until the trees are asleep again, and that could take away.", she considered.

" Which is good, because I'd rather avoid that forest.", I grumbled, looking back at the trees. Their silhouettes were almost still in the penumbra of the forest, but I still felt watched.

" Is there a logic about when they wake up, or not?"

" I'm not sure. They are unpredictable, but they are usually more active at night."

" Of course they are. Now, do you know a mountain around here? Big mountain, ancient ruins on it?", I investigated. Going back there was my best chance at surviving, since the dwarves on it were the only creatures who had been completely friendly to me so far. Well, despite that first moment of misunderstanding when I had seen warrior skeletons coming at me, but it was not really their fault.

" There is a mountain, yes, but it's far away, on the other side of the forest. We'll have to trek through it for at least three days to get there."

" And how many days going around the forest?", I asked, not getting my hopes up.

" At least two weeks on feet. Assuming we do not run in trouble on the way. Unless you can teleport us with your magic of course, or call your creature to fly us there."

" I can't call that creature, and I don't have teleport magic.", I explained. I was giving up on explaining her that I had no magic at all.

" Why would you want to go to that mountain anyway?", she wondered, then her eyes shone and she exclaimed:" Oh, I know! Of course!"
